April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month ⛑️ 🐶🐾 I truly believe all dog guardians need to complete some kind of first aid training. You are often your dogs first line of support if an emergency occurs until you can get to a vet - there’s no paramedic service for dogs 😣

My recommendation for courses is , can’t believe it’s almost been a year (May 2025) since I completed my course.

This will be an annual commitment from me to ensure that I keep my skills fresh and that I can keep your dogs safe during training 🐶🐾☺️💜

Feeling burnt out?

Sometimes the best reset isn’t doing more… it’s slowing down.

So if today feels a bit heavy, walk with us.

Let your shoulders drop.

Take a breath.

Notice the path beneath your feet and your dog beside you.

You don’t have to solve everything right now.

Just this moment is enough. 🌿🐾

🐾 Life feels a little easier with dogs beside us - save this for the next time life feels overwhelming.

The law has changed, and if you walk your dog in the countryside whether you’re a local or on holiday, this really matters!

From 18 March 2026, the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025 strengthens protection for livestock across England and Wales.

Here’s what you need to know:

- The law now applies on roads and public paths
- More animals are protected (including camelids like alpacas)
- Chasing alone can be an offence
- Courts can issue unlimited fines
- Police have stronger powers

🙋🏽‍♀️ Here’s the part you really need to hear: livestock incidents don’t happen because someone has a “bad dog.”

They happen because opportunity and animal instinct collide.

Whether it’s prey drive, distance or a sudden distraction… recall disappears.

If countryside walks feel unpredictable or stressful, you’re not alone and you don’t have to just “hope for the best.”

At Dogs on the Sofa, I help guardians and their dogs build reliable recall using ethical training methods.

This means without fear and without force.

Just skills that work in real life.

Send me a message or comment “RECALL” and I’ll share your next step.

Welcome to the Dog Facts series! I'll be sharing an interesting fact, come and join us to learn something new 🐶

With the number of household dogs at an all time high, this shows the importance of ethical and reward-based training, creating local communites where we can co-exist peacefully and with mutual respect.

What a dog trainer in training does with their weekends... shadowing amazing trainers Rachael and Erika at Goodall Dog Training 🐶💫 I'm learning so much! 🤓

Very grateful for the opportunity 🥹

At Goodall Dog Training we love supporting new dog trainers to make the leap into their career by providing shadowing opportunities.

Here’s a lovely photo of our current shadowee Gurpreet and a nervous puppy Axel at our Puppy Conversations session last Saturday. She did a fab job of building his confidence around new humans and handled him so expertly! 👏

And it’s not all one way, people shadowing help us loads with running classes and chatting to clients in between class! They’re an asset to our team 💪
