Kennel Assistant Required

We are looking for a friendly reliable Kennel Assistant to work varied days (7.45am- 5pm) including weekends and bank holidays on an ad hoc basis.
Our busiest times are between April and October especially during the school holidays.
We are a busy boarding kennel and require someone to assist with all aspects of care for our boarders. A qualification in animal care would be an advantage but is not necessary.
The work is physical and involves feeding, cleaning and walking through our lovely grounds. We walk each dog three times a day outside regardless of the weather so a love of being outside is a must.
Own transport is required as there is no public transport available.
Candidates must have an empathy with dogs of all sizes and breeds and be confident in handling them.

Please send your CV to [email protected] FAO Sian.

You may have noticed if you've visited us recently we've just had solar panels installed on the roof. Here's the inverters which will be transforming sunlight into energy. Huge thanks to Mark Cavill for doing a great job - get in touch with them if you're thinking of installing panels. https://www.mgcavill.co.uk/

We are very fortunate to have a large roof space with south facing panels and recognise that for the sustainability for the kennels and cattery this is a good investment. We hope to see this pay off in Winter 2023 as we start to generate electricity from the panels. In the meantime and until this happens we are in a position where we have to re-instate our heating costs during winter of additional £1.75/per kennel / per night - this is optional and your choice mainly depending on the time of year, the current weather and your breed of dog - please do let us know when you drop your dog off.

We've been lucky so far this year with the mild weather, we are looking forward to the solar panels being better for everyone : our Very Important Pets, our bills and the planet!

We hope you and your family are doing well (especially your Very Important Pets!) We are open and ready to take your bookings.

The current roadmap out of lockdown means from Monday 29th March the stay at home order should be lifted (we are watching the government advice on this), followed 2 weeks later by the opening of holiday lets/airbnb/second homes and one household being able to stay away from home - in England.

We have taken all the recommended precautions and are confident we can provide a clean, safe and efficient service to all the pets in our care. Please do drop us an email or give us a call to book in. We look forward to welcoming you.

We are open. We will continue to be open throughout this second lockdown and will be accepting pets for boarding as usual, as we are open and caring for keyworkers and service personnel's pets.

We have taken all the recommended precautions and are confident we can provide a safe and efficient service to all the pets in our care.

If you want to make an enquiry for the Christmas and New Year holidays - we are taking bookings (without the need for a deposit) from our regular customers - please email us or give us a call 01264 781475 for availability. We look forward to seeing you. Stay safe.

We would like to thank all our customers for their messages of support and patience during these difficult times. We intend to reopen in July and will take provisional bookings as usual via email and telephone.
We are taking necessary precautions as recommended by the governing bodies, 2m social distancing, frequent hand washing and only one customer in reception at any one time and we have installed a perspex screen in front of the reception desk to protect our customers and staff.

When leaving pets we would ask:
• Only one customer in reception at any one time
• Tie your dog to the railings outside reception if you don't want to come into the space, this will enable us to collect your pet at a safe distance
• Please do not bring bedding in, we will be providing our own high quality bedding, which we can readily disinfect
• Please send you vaccination records and medication requirement in advance by email
• Call us by phone or beep you car horn if you prefer to remain in your car

Please also note:
• We will forgo the usual requirement to sign a contract on arrival
• Payment by bank transfer is our preferred method, we do still have a card machine however
• Many customers made summer bookings long before anyone had heard of Covid-19. We would be grateful to hear if these bookings are still valid, even if there is still a degree of uncertainty.

Thank you so much for your support and patience, we really appreciate it. All at Ambergate.

We have reluctantly taken the decision to close the doors of Ambergate from Saturday 28th March until further notice. Any pets will need to be collected by 5pm on Saturday.

We don't anticipate re-opening until at least the end of April when we will review the situation and take government advice. We will post an update when we know more.

We are happy to accept provisional bookings for late summer / early autumn - from the end of July onwards in the usual ways - email or phone. We expect, if movement restrictions lift, we will be very busy. Priority will be given to provisional bookings. Provisional bookings also help us in planning with staffing and re-stocking.

We have been very encouraged by many messages of support from our customers and hope to return the kennels and cattery to use as soon as possible.

We wish you all well through these difficult times and we look forward to seeing you as soon as we are able!
