Lynx and Gnocchi after their grooms

Lynx is a border collie and Gnocchi is a shetland sheepdog. Both these breeds are double coated.

The purpose of the double coat is for the undercoat and top coat to work together to keep your dog's skin protected in any weather.

This includes insulation as the dense undercoat acts as an insulator to keep your dog warm.

She is a cocker spaniel and has a silk coat, so we handstrip her.

Silk coat handstripping involves plucking of dead hairs from your dog’s coat by hand, leaving the fresh natural coat.

Hand-stripping doesn’t hurt your dog as only the dead hairs are removed from their coat.

I hope you are all having a lovely Easter 🐣

Apologies, I have been poor at updating this page lately but we have been busy grooming all your lovely dogs.

One of the benefits of having your dogs groomed, is we groom the dog from top to tail, this gives us the opportunity to notice any unusual behaviours as well as any lumps or bumps that were not present previously.

A behavioural change could’ve been the dog wants to sit more than usual, is agitated over a certain part of their body which before was never a problem.

My owners are all amazing and have their dogs checked immediately ❤️

So just like we are advised to check ourselves, make sure to check your dogs too or get them regularly checked.
