Quarter Horses for Sale
The Quarter Horse is truly an American Breed. As early as the 1600's the colonists on the eastern seaboard began breeding thoroughbreds from England with horses on the North American continent, such as the Chickasaw horse, which were descendants of the horses brought over by the Spanish Conquistadors. Bred for great bursts of speed at short distances (a quarter mile!), they have been clocked up to 55 mph. Today, people who purchase the Quarter Horses for sale in our classified ads use them for any task that needs a horse that maneuvers well. Their innate "cow sense" makes them an excellent mount for working cattle.

Lola rides western, neck reins, loads and trailers well, picks up her feet nicely, leads, easy to catch, bathes, grooms, clips, ties, cross-ties, and lunges. Good for vet. Good for Farrier. No vices. She rides in arena or hack trails.She's good in the pasture with mares, geldings, cows, donkeys, dogs, poultry, etc.Barefoot, UTD on coggins, vaccines, deworming, dental. Rain rides western, neck reins, loads and trailers well, picks up his feet nicely, leads, easy to catch, bathes, grooms, clips, ties, cross-ties, and lunges. Good for vet(with the exception of being terrified of needles). Good for Farrier. No vices. He's a retired western pleasure show horse with National Snaffle Bit Association points. His sire is Texas Tall Tale. He's a sweet gentle boy, will greet you at the gate, and follow you all around the barnyard, in your pocket type. He rides in arena or hack trails.He's kid friendly, and anyone can ride. He's good in the pasture with mares, geldings, cows, donkeys, dogs, poultry, etc. He has the beginnings of arthritis, and requires maintenance medication when ridden. Barefoot, UTD on coggins, vaccines, deworming, dental. Adoption application, references, and contract required.

About Sweet Duchess

Sweet Duchess was donated by elderly owner who could no longer care for her and wanted her in good hands. Her foster home says she’s a very sweet mare, she gets along well with other horses, loves kids, not food aggressive, pretty mover.

Sweet Duchess’ former owner said she was a 2009 mare, but her foster home’s vet has aged her older, born around 2002.

Evaluation and Training

Sweet Duchess’ former owner said she was frequently ridden by a child, but we cannot confirm that. Her original foster home worked with her on the ground and said she loves kids and could be handled by children on the ground under supervision. She also rode Sweet Duchess once and said she was rusty and kept looking for her equine friends, but she thought Sweet Duchess could come back to work for someone.

She spent the last four months with a youth handler, working on the ground. They learned to navigate obstacles in hand, work on a lung line, and work in hand together. She did great at the Challenge, placing 4th in the freestyle, 4th basic skills, 5th in obstacle course and winning 2nd place overall in her division!

Sweet Duchess could be an adorable pet and companion to other horses. Or she could be a riding horse if an adopter were willing to bring her back to work. She’s not for kids to ride at this time, but she could be with some training refreshers.
