Beautiful marked retrieve to hand 😍

She struggled with blind retrieves and lost focus when people cheered at the wrong time or she saw another working dog but I don’t mind. She aced it 🤩 super star dog

Had a lovely day out at Astle Park Country Fair 🥰

Clover didn’t place, I think she was too distracted by people cheering and the other whistles but she did soo well on her marked retrieves (we won’t talk about the blind retrieves 😂) Also unbelievably proud how she coped with crowds and stalls etc. Hard work does pay off!!

A good day out 🌞

How are your puppers coping with reduced exercise?

Clovers taken up fly hunting, this is really really fun and not at all annoying 🥰🤣

But amazingly, she did track the scent of fly IN FLIGHT to it’s stationary place on the window 😯 She didnt watch it fly off because she lost it so started sniffing the air! Amazing to watch but equally, not really a hobby I’d like her to take up 😅

Before you judge someone for walking their dog, can you consider the following?

- is the dog visibly distressed?

- are they calm, well-regulated and relaxed?

- is it a short haired dog, a dog with a big muzzle, a fit and healthy dog that can easily regulate their temps?

Whilst I wouldn’t want a long haired, short snouted, painful (inflammation causes a natural rise in body temp), elderly, excitable dog walking in the full heat, but if the dog is able, whats the harm in a short on lead sniff or off lead woodland play with a swim providing it’s safe for the dog to do so

I’ve just spoken to a lady who’s dog hasn’t had a wee in EIGHT hours because her dog won’t toilet in the garden and she’s worried she’ll be judged for walking her dog for the toilet

Some of these dogs are ok in the heat (especially rescues from overseas!), others are not. Look at the dog in front of you, not what the locals are saying on Facebook

This obviously doesn’t apply to dogs that are struggling or owners that are being selfish because they want a pint in the pub in 30degree heat! Be sensible

Anyway, here’s Bob having a short toilet break, Treacle having a woodland mooch, and Bailey having a soak off. All done sensibly, responsibly and safely. Clover will not be going out in this heat because she’s feral and goes 100mph so will definitely over heat so she’s chilling at home and having early morning mooches instead

🙌🏽 well said

It's going to be very warm over the next week. It's obviously very important to be careful with our dogs in the heat. And now the local community pages will be awash with people shaming others for walking their dogs. They love that sh%t dont they!
Please be mindful, that some people live with dogs that simply will not toilet at home.
Some people live in flats and have no gardens.
Some people have dogs with separation anxiety and need to collect their mother's / vulnerable family members shopping / medication etc and are doing a very slow sniffy walk in the shade to collect.
Some people are balancing work / childcare / disability or generally difficult routines.
Someone may not drive and need to get their dog to the vet.
Some people have elderly dogs or puppies that cope much better with a couple of short walks, as opposed to one longer later one.
So... if you see someone doing a short, shady potter with their beloved dog, try not to judge.
And if you need to go out with your dog, stick to short, slow on lead walks in shady areas.
Most people are doing their best for their dogs.
That is completely different from high energy repetitive ball chucking in the height of the mid day heat. Keep safe everyone!
