Tracy's Dog Trails

It the last day of January at loooong last 🥳 its been quite the nightmare of a month. Besides covid times I dont think I've ever had to cancel on dogs in all my years but this month alone has changed all that!

The weather has made everything very difficult for all of us causing the first cancels, thinking all was to return to normal I started the week with a puncture, luckily almost at Alan Bradley's and he kindly quickly replaced my tyre and I managed to still get to everyone with just slight delay, then first thing this monday morning my van packed in - thank you to all at Colin Greg's for rescuing me this time, and for doing their best to get it going again as quick as possible, unfortunately its needing a new part sent home so will be off the road until that comes home and gets repaired - expected to be end of next week. And then to top it all off after I'd manage to work out some back up plans, my littlest has taken ill and needed me to stay home with him.
So until I get my van back I'll be borrowing my parents car - thanks Mum and Dad you're my heroes ❤️
I can't be transporting dogs in their car so I will still be restricted to who I'm able to walk. I'll be getting in touch with anyone that I wont be able to get to next week, if you're in a position to have a backup plan please let me know, that would be a massive help in trying to organise how I can fit everyone in. Im so sorry to everyone that all this has impacted, I absolutely hate to let anyone down but sometimes things are just out of my hands.

Fingers crossed for a more settled and stress free February 🤞🤞🤞🤞- and if the weather wouldn't mind improving a bit I'd be very grateful 🙏 😊 all the wind and mud certainly doesn't make any of this any easier! 😫

So Im absolutely hopeless at keeping my page going and sharing all the photos and videos of our adventures - there are thousands in my phone so must get better at posting some of them as the dogs are gorgeous and its so lovely seeing them all in action and having fun together. I've made a peedie selection some of our recent days to hopefully make you smile.

Also I just want to thank all of my clients for always being so lovely and for trusting me with their gorgeous fur babies every day and keeping me doing what I love so much ❤️ wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ###

What fun these guys have been having, with the weather getting nicer it's definitely bringing out the crazy in the dogs! They're all always so excited to see each other and get so much enjoyment from spending time with their doggy friends - as do I! Being able to have all different characters in fun but safe groups isn't easy but something I have built up experience in, over many years to the point it's second nature.
I am able to specialise in group dog walks as have many years experience working and volunteering in kennels, a lifetime of living with dogs, almost 5 years running my dog walking business and just because I have researched and watched all I can about dog behaviour and body language. Im able to spot exactly when a dog goes to being uncomfortable and needs reassurance or if they just need space. All the dogs I walk have been gradually introduced to each other one at a time, sometimes over weeks, and then into groups slowly enough that they do it with confidence and they get to be so good at understanding other dogs that they are soon confident with any dog - and also good at knowing when to give another dog space too. I believe it is so important to dogs' wellbeing that they get loads of time with other dogs just like we need to be around our friends regularly. It makes me so happy that I get to help these lot do that, and we get loads of fun adventures together exploring beautiful places.

That's us all done for the year, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all my lovely clients (canine and humans) I absolutely love what I do and no matter what the weather i feel so lucky to be spending my days out and about with the most wonderful dogs. Each and everyone i love like my own and always look forward to our adventures together. So thank you all for trusting me with your beloved buddies and keeping on supporting me and just for always being so lovely. I'm off now until the 6the jan, I'm really needing a wee rest with the family and my own dogs, but am going to miss everyone so much. I wanted to choose a few of my fav pics to share but theres too many! I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas and New Year 🎄 🎉

This is soooo exciting for me...probably not so exciting for anyone else but I'm still going to share anyway. I've been wanting to fit my car with better crates so I've spent months researching the toughest and best on the market, I thought I was being biased to the Scottish company but they came out top in so many reviews. So I finally bit the bullet and invested in transk9. I'm over the moon with this. It means that whilst in my car even if the worst happens the dogs will be kept safe in this crash tested solid beast. The crate has been tried out by lots of dogs today on its trial run and I can happily say they were all comfy and happy in it on their journeys 😃 also works for keeping two 8 year old out of mischief!

A dogs walk isn't just about getting the miles in. Don't get me wrong, we do go a good few miles each walk. But more importantly it's about enrichment and fulfilling that dogs many needs. They need loads of sniff time, socialising and just using their brains. When we tick all these boxes we get happy relaxed dogs. When I'm planning your dogs outing, I'm thinking of all these things and so I'll try wherever possible to take them to different locations from beaches, trees, street walks or a good farm track with all the various smells, sounds and things to explore. And just like us also hugely beneficial to them to socialise with their own kind and as many different characters as possible, which is why I'm always mixing up the dogs (also whenever thats possible) so they can benefit from meeting and getting to know loads of different friends each walk. Also when we're out I'll always be playing games and doing silly things (always have an areay of toys and treat and i might just vanish and make a daft noise so they come to find me) all to keep their focus on me and so they never know what's going to happen next. Making ever hour with your dog as fun and worthwhile as I can.

I've had the best and busiest week, making loads of new peedie friends. We've been having so much fun and been all over having our adventures splashing in the sea and sniffing around trees and ditches all around orkney 😁🐾🐾
