Large animal cuddly toys wanted!

We’re seeking donations for any large animal cuddly toys to help with our community outreach activities. Last year, Community Relations met over 12,800 people, including pupils from more than 50 local primary schools and 25 secondary schools, teaching young people about veterinary skills - and our current collection of toys could do with some new additions!

If you have any you’d like to donate, please drop them off at Boltons Park Farm during office hours (10am - 4pm, Monday - Friday), or contact us at [email protected] to discuss.

Whether your pet is furry or feathered, big or small, here are our top tips to help minimise their stress from fireworks:
🐕 Walk dogs early (ideally before dark) and keep them on a lead. Dogs can run off if startled by loud noises. Ensure they have a safe place to hide in your home. Use pet toys or treats as distractions
🐈 Keep cats inside and remember to close windows and lock cat flaps
🐇 Outdoor rabbits and guinea pigs (ie that cannot be brought inside) need access to a fully sheltered area with some sound dampening such as old blankets and thick quilts. Deep bedding for them to burrow into will help them feel more secure. If they are kept indoors, make sure they have hiding places like tunnels and bedding
🦜Position pet birds away from windows and cover their cages with thick blankets
🎼 Gentle music or the TV (if your pet is accustomed to it) is a good distraction from noisy fireworks
Keep your pet company if you can. Knowing you are close and hearing your voice will help them relax
