This lovely golden oldie is Daisy.

She is almost 14 years old and is a real trooper. She has kept her human parents busy with her adventures that’s for sure.

When Daisy was only a few months old, her curiosity got the better of her and she managed to get in to an altercation with the family cat. As a result, Daisy had to have her eye removed.

Daisy is still managing to keep her parents on their toes and this week she visited us to have a mass removed from the inside of her cheek.

Due to her age, Daisy's anaesthetic was high risk so extra care protocols were adopted. Her parents knew her lump was causing discomfort and was often catching on her teeth and understood the only way to help Daisy was to risk the operation and try to remove as much of the mass as possible.

Daisy’s parents adore her and had to think of her quality of life.

We were delighted to say her anaesthetic was successful and she was up and eating an hour later.
Daisy has now gone home to get spoilt rotten by her devoted owners.

We wish Daisy all the best for her senior years.

Boysie is a regular visitor to the practice as his owner can no longer bathe him on her own.

He doesn’t exactly like baths but because he has skin flare ups, he really benefits from us giving him a regular medicated bath.

To make his bathing experience as pleasant and as stress free as possible, we use Boysie’s favorite things.........Food!

Dogs learn by association so we want Boysie to learn to associate bath time at the vets as a good thing. Bath= food ❤️ !

This week, Boysie is so much calmer than he used to be. He doesn’t struggle to leave anymore and we can in fact give him less treats if we wanted to because he has learnt to be calm now .
Well done Boysie!

Good afternoon to you all apologies for our absence of posts these past months.

We have been working hard to keep providing you with our best service throughout the pandemic.

With the latest government guidelines, easing all COVID restrictions from Monday 19th July, as a practice we have made the decision to continue to implement social distancing and continue wearing PPE.

😷 We will ask you to please continue to wear a face covering when entering our premises.

🐱 When arriving at the practice please be mindful of our social distancing measures and ensure only one person enters the practice and accompanies your pet(s)

🚗 You will be given the choice to either wait in the car whilst your pet is examined, or you can enter the practice.

💊 You may enter the practice to collect medication, food or to pay bills, but again, only one person at a time please.

We have a medium sized team working in very close proximity with one another and need to keep them safe. These measures will allow us to continue to provide the essential service of veterinary medical care and welfare to your pets.

Thank you for your continued support and patience 🙏

Following the UK Chief Veterinary Officer’s confirmation on 27 July that a domestic cat was the first animal in the UK to test positive for Covid-19, we anticipate there may be queries from animal owners about this topic.

There is no change to government guidance on the testing of animals for Covid-19.

Despite the fact that this is the first confirmed case of coronavirus animal infection in the UK, there is no evidence that the animal was involved in the transmission of the disease to humans nor is there evidence that other domestic animals are able to transmit the virus to humans. The cat and its owners have since made a full recovery.

Public Health England has issued advice in line with general coronavirus guidance to keep washing hands regularly, including before and after contact with animals.

Pet owners should be directed to the latest government guidance on how to continue to care for their animals during the coronavirus pandemic: http://ow.ly/LWck50AKrFD

COVID-19 Update and Out Of Hours Provision

Sadly from Monday 15/06/2020 we have, of necessity, needed to transfer our night time emergency services to Worthing Emergency Vets based at Grove Lodge Veterinary Hospital in Worthing BN14 9DL

These will be temporary measures in the short term but have become necessary due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on our staff resources. We believe that this will enable our Vets and Nurses to continue to provide the quality care that you have become accustomed to during the day time opening hours. All our hospitalised in patients will still be attended to overnight by the current staff.

One advantage of this decision and in line with the easing of restrictions across the UK, our governing body has allowed us to start the transition towards providing as full a range of veterinary services as possible within the safety confines of the social distancing rules.

In order to achieve the necessary safety for both staff and clients we have risk assessed our working practices in line with the 2m social distancing measures. Unfortunately due to the size of our premises, unlike many retail outlets, it is currently still not deemed possible to maintain the necessary distancing rules within the consulting rooms or waiting areas. We are working hard to address this and would hope to open up the surgery and allow limited access to reception in the very near future

We would therefore ask that you contact the surgery in advance of your visit to discuss your needs with Fliss, Kate or Heather at reception who will happily arrange your appointment or your “call and collect” medicines food and prescriptions and take electronic payments over the phone.

We are striving to make your visit to the surgery as safe and convenient as possible but please bear with us during these difficult times so that we will still be here to offer you our dedicated services once we reach “The New Normal”

Thank you so much for your co-operation and continue to stay safe.

Best Wishes, Nicholas

12/06/2020

To all our dear and loyal Pet Parents,

We are very grateful for your patience and consideration during these difficult times. We appreciate how difficult it has been for you to maintain contact with the Surgery and whilst ensuring the well being of your nearest and dearest fluffy companions.

It is with some relief and a certain amount of caution that we are to put in place a phased return to the “New Normal”.

Following the Government’s relaxation of the Lock Down guidelines we will be able to increase our range of professional and health care services. We will be contacting owners whose pet’s vaccinations are imminent or recently overdue and can offer those important surgeries including essential dentistry, lump and bump removals and x-ray investigations.

We have important safety and social distancing measures in place to ensure both your and our staff’s safety and well being during this period. In order to facilitate this please contact the surgery to discuss your requirements and arrange an appointment to see the vet’s and nurses.

In the short term we will still have a closed door policy but hope to open reception and the waiting room for limited access soon.

Thank you for your continued support

Stay Safe and Best Wishes

Nicholas and the PetCare Team.

28/05/2020

To All our dear, lovely and loyal pet parents

With the introduction of the Governments Track and Trace policy, it has become evident that the risk of our staff being potentially identified as "in Contacts" increases. If this were to happen and staff were advised to self isolate for two weeks then the risk of closure of the Practice becomes ever more possible.

In order for us to practice good "Social Distancing" we will need to continue our current policy of closed door distancing a while longer.

We appreciate the complications both physical and emotional that this places on you, but in order for us to staff the Surgery we need your continued help.

Please stay safe

With our very best wishes

Nicholas, Kate, Fliss, Emily and the PetCare Team

Yesturday the BBC website reported some confusing information regarding Covid-19 and Cats.

In response, The British Veterinary Association has released an official statement to clarify the guidance recommended for cat owners.

For further information visit: www.bva.co.uk/coronavirus

There are lots of news reports about and cats this morning. We're issued a statement to clarify our position. We're NOT advising that all cats be kept indoors during the pandemic. Only cats from infected or self-isolating households should be kept indoors as a precaution, if possible.

Our website is currently experiencing high volumes of traffic, here's our statement in case you can't access our website 👇
