Blue-green algae warning 🚨

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) are harmful bacteria found in freshwater like lakes, ponds, reservoirs and slow-moving rivers. Despite the name, they’re not true algae and can form blooms that look blue-green, green, brown or red — often appearing as scum, paint-like slicks, or foamy patches with a musty or foul smell.

Dogs are especially at risk, as they may drink or swim in affected water.

⚠️ Please think twice before letting your dog swim in these waters, especially during the warmer months.

If your dog shows any signs of poisoning, seek veterinary help immediately.
