💙 Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 💙

This month, we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible Registered Veterinary Nurses. Your compassion, skill, and dedication shine through every patient you care for, every client you support, and every colleague you uplift.

From nursing hospitalised patients and monitoring anaesthetics to educating owners and being a calm, caring presence when it’s needed most — we couldn’t do what we do without you.

Thank you for everything you do, today and always 🐾✨

🐾 Meet the Pet Monday! 🐾

Meet Calypso, a stunning tricolour cream harlequin Crested Gecko, owned by Amy R, one of our wonderful Client Care Team members 💚🦎

🤍 Favourite thing:
• A plain white wall (simple tastes done right!)

🌙 Least favourite thing:
• Being woken up before dusk — beauty sleep is non‑negotiable

Calypso may be small, but she has a big personality! Keep an eye out for more unique pets from the Eye Vet team ✨

Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month
What does the title ‘Registered Veterinary Nurse’ actually mean?

Registered Veterinary Nurse, RVN, isn’t just a job title, it’s a professional qualification. In the UK, this title is regulated by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. You can’t call yourself an RVN unless you’re properly trained and registered. They are bound by a Code of Conduct, meet professional standards, and are required to keep their skills relevant and up to date. All of our RVNs have extensive training and knowledge across the veterinary world but have chosen to specialise in ophthalmology, and we couldn’t thank them more. They advocate for your pets day in, day out, without question.

✨ Welcome to the team, Tate! ✨

We’re delighted to introduce Tate to the Eye Vet team! She holds a first-class degree in Veterinary Medical Science and a Veterinary Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Nottingham, and is currently working towards her BSAVA Ophthalmology Certificate 👏

Tate joins us from a busy 24-hour veterinary hospital, where she developed a strong interest in emergency care and a particular passion for eyelid (adnexal) surgery.

Outside of work, you’ll find her at CrossFit or learning Japanese — and at home with Sushi 🐱. Sushi was found as a stray with two broken legs, and after Tate treated and fostered her, she simply couldn’t let her go ❤️

Please join us in giving Tate a warm welcome!

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week | 11th–17th May 💚

This week is a reminder that mental health matters—every single day.

Whether you're feeling on top of the world or facing challenges, you are not alone. Taking care of your mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after your physical health.

Sometimes the smallest actions, a conversation, a walk outside, a pause to breathe—can make the biggest difference.

Let’s continue to break the stigma, support one another, and create a space where it’s okay to not be okay.

🐶 Meet the Staff Pet Monday! 🐶

Meet Kobi, a lovable 3‑year‑old mini Labradoodle, proudly owned by Kirsty, our Business Relationship Manager. Originally brought home as a family dog for her two young children, Kobi has perfectly filled the role – and firmly appointed himself as the third child!

Kobi adores family days out, and his favourite destination is absolutely the pub 🍻🐾. He’s also a regular (and very welcome!) visitor at Eye‑Vet, where he gets plenty of love and fuss from the whole team.

Some of you may even remember him from his puppy days—he used to join Kirsty on practice visits, so you might have met him when he was tiny!

Food is Kobi’s greatest motivator, and he cannot be trusted around children’s toys, which means he’s accidentally become an excellent teacher… helping the kids learn to keep everything tidied away 🤣

We love having Kobi as part of the Eye‑Vet family! 💙🐾

🐾 Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month – May 🐾

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month, a time to celebrate and recognise the vital role veterinary nurses play in animal care.

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible work of our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) here at Eye Vet – the dedicated professionals who help care for your pets every single day 💙
From assisting with eye examinations to administering medications, our nurses are at the heart of what we do. They’re with your pet at every step of their journey: preparing them for surgery, carefully monitoring anaesthetic, and being the first friendly face they see when they wake up. They treat every patient with the care, compassion and attention they would give their own.
Their expertise doesn’t stop there. Our nurses also support and educate pet owners on eye care, helping ensure treatment continues successfully at home. Whether it’s a routine check or an emergency, their skill, precision and kindness truly make all the difference.

✨ Between them, our nursing team has over 128 years of experience – something we are incredibly proud of. ✨

Thank you to our amazing nurses, not just this month, but every day 🐶🐱
