Shape Dogs Dog Trainer and Separation Anxiety Specialist

When your dog is doing SO well and you’re absolutely sure they can do another few seconds/minutes 👀

Why shouldn’t you push a bit farther just to see how long they can do?

Departure times are designed to go up very slowly on purpose. If you’re dog is fully settled for their session, that’s great and you should take the win! Being able to come back whilst your dog is completely unbothered is such a great learning experience for them and exactly what we’re looking for.

Repeatedly pushing your dog just that tiny bit too much will do the opposite of what we’re trying to achieve with their training and often sensitise them to your leaving, making regressions much more likely later on.

Stick to the plan and reap the benefits later on when your dog has learned to truly settle into their training 💪

🚨 Exciting news! 🚨

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be starting the Practitioner course on January 13! 🐾

This 6-month journey will level up my knowledge and skills so I can support dogs (and their humans!) even more effectively. 💛

Inspired by a 3 year journey of deep-diving into Hank’s underlying issues, I’m so excited to be able to support clients new and old with their own pain-investigation journeys and work more closely with vets and pet professionals, providing a holistic approach to training and welfare 🤝

When completed, every client working on a 1:1 basis with me will also be provided with an assessment prior to any training plans ✅

To follow along with my learnings and get updates and insights into pain investigation and mitigation, you can follow my new sister brand to Shape Dogs,

🎄 Merry Christmas from Shape Dogs!

Thank you to our amazing clients for trusting us with your dogs, your training (and your mental wellbeing 😅), and to the brilliant trainers, behaviourists, vets and pet pros who keep showing up for the dogs, and sharing their experience, knowledge and friendship with me 🫶🏻 we’re lucky to be in such good company.

Here’s to muddy walks, shredded wrapping paper, and our dogs who are very much part of the family 💛

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas with only minor chaos ✨

Brilliant work by and her humans to reach a completely settled 15 minute milestone!

They’ve worked tirelessly on building a solid foundation, and now the results are really starting to show as she’s smashing through her training plan with some longer durations and harder situations!

Onwards and upwards for this incredible team ⭐️

When the hard work pays off... ✨

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of checking your pet camera and seeing your dog completely relaxed, and it was so brilliant seeing Selma go from an assessment where she struggled with her owners even walking away from the sofa, to now being comfortable for hours on her own!

If you’re reading this thinking “I’d love to be able to leave my dog home alone for hours” then our 1:1 training might be for you – head to the link in my bio to get started ➡️

I never expected that getting a dog would have such a huge impact on my life... So why did I decide to change careers to specialise in training dogs with separation anxiety?

Because after adopting a lockdown dog with separation anxiety, I was also:

🏠 Completely isolated, unable to leave my house and do normal day-to-day things

🚪Feeling alone in his training, trying everything and seeing no progress

❤️‍🩹 Overwhelmed with knowing something was wrong with his health, and getting nowhere

📉 Frustrated with setbacks and misleading – but well-intentioned – advice

🫣 Embarrassed by not being able to go anywhere without my dog

After a year of no progress, I decided to enough was enough and deep dived into the world of dog behaviour, and why they can feel so panicked at such a normal thing.

Three years of studying later, I now help dog parents all over the world regain their freedom with the same methods that worked for my dog, and have proven time and time again to be effective.

💚 I help owners to be able to quickly nip to the shop again.

💚 I help owners to be able to go to non-dog-friendly restaurants.

💚 I even help some owners to simply take the bins out without their dog panicking.

If you need help with your dog’s separation anxiety, I’d love to help. Book a free, no obligation discovery call on our website to get started ☎️

Sorry 👀😂

It’s a common myth that letting your dog on beds or sofas will cause or worsen separation anxiety, but it’s just that; a myth. ❌

What’s far more important in your training - whether it be separation anxiety, reactivity, sound sensitivity, you name it - is that your dog has the opportunity for uninterrupted, high quality rest and sleep 💤

What does a sink have to do with your dog’s behaviour? 🤔

The sink analogy is great for helping us think about our dog’s stress levels and how well they can (or can’t) cope. It’s why when we’re training separation anxiety, I’ll ask you about your dog’s health, activity and any other behavioural problems or quirks that they have because it all feeds into how we setup your dog’s training 🕵🏻‍♀️
