Please be sensible in this hot weather we are experiencing this weekend and next week

Now, you know I’m not one to nag…….

But I need your full attention RIGHT NOW

The temperature has gone a bit crazy, it’s excessively hot and is forecast to be this hot for the next 5-6 days.

So please don’t be THAT owner that still takes their dog out for a walk in the hottest part of the day.

Don’t be THAT owner who thinks it won’t happen to their dog.

Because trust me, I’ve seen dogs die of heat stroke, I’ve seen vomit and liquid diarrhoea pour out of them, I’ve seen their body having extreme convulsions and I’ve seen their eyes rolling as their brain shuts down.

It’s something that no one ever wants to see, yet every year my friends and colleagues at Veterinary Centres across the UK have to witness dogs dying because an owner thought it was ok to take them for a walk.

So before you do take your dog out, please put on your winter coat and stand on tarmac for 30-45 minutes in full sunshine and tell me if that was a pleasant experience.

Now I know that that you are all sensible, and I know that you have the welfare of your dog firmly at heart.

But sadly their are plenty of owners who don’t think about the consequences and the danger they are putting their dog in.

Facebook is full of posts and advice of when you should walk your dog so I’m not going to labour the point.

But I want you to look into your dogs eyes and decide whether you are ready for them to die.

Please help to stop puppy yoga, Pilates and cuddle therapy

We call for a ban on puppy yoga, puppy Pilates and other “puppy cuddle therapy” to help in bringing an end to an alarming rise in the number of businesses offering alternative therapy classes which use puppies as part of their sessions.

Please help stop these sessions

‼️Puppy yoga, puppy Pilates and puppy play/cuddle sessions‼️

They are not cute, they are not positive and they are not ok.

I am horrified with the increasing popularity of these events.

I am horrified at the profiteering from young vulnerable puppies

And I am horrified that it is billed as positive socialisation.

To me this is nothing more than puppy farming with flowers

Litters of 8 week old puppies are subjected to several hours of being picked up and passed around in these organised events.

At a time when they are emotionally vulnerable, a time when their learning is at their most impressionable and at a time when they should be going into secure loving homes.

Instead designer puppies are bred specifically for greedy humans to sell tickets at £30.00 each to unsuspecting members of the public who think an hour of puppy cuddling and stretching will be nice…….

Nice!!

This is anything but nice

These puppies do not have their needs met, these puppies are expected to perform hour after hour to entertain the paying customers.

No regard for their safety, their well-being or the emotional damage they are being caused.

There is also no regard for the families that, after spending an hour with a puppy have to give it back.

Maybe, just maybe this puppy will be for sale at an above average price

Complete exploitation of people that have already formed a bond.

Would you be able to give it back?

Events are planned 8 weeks apart……….is this coincidence or is it planned by money greedy humans out to make a quick buck on the back of cute puppies.

Litters carefully planned to ensure they have an endless supply of designer puppies…….they may not be using dirty sheds, but this is almost certainly puppy farming.

It has to stop, and it has to stop now.

It’s time to be the voice for these puppies and it’s time to to put an end to this horrific new fad.

My aim is to raise public awareness, to lobby the national charities to lean on the government to prevent this from being legal.

Without paying customers they don’t have a business so this is where I need your help.

Please share this post, there are 5.9k who have liked this page, if every single one of you share it we are going to be able to alert the wider public to these awful puppy profiteering businesses.

I have already been in contact with the police and the RSPCA who are aware of these events and are looking closely at the ethics behind them

So maybe if we all sent letters, petitions and use public pressure we could actually do something to help prevent these activities.

For the professionals who have offered to support, please could you share this to your clients, on your pages and on instagram.

I will be putting together some emails and letters that you can forward to your MP’s, national charities and local councils over the weekend.

If you see an event planned, please let me know so I can inform the Police welfare officers, the licensing officers at the local councils and the RSPCA.
