“I connected with James through a recommendation from my trainer after noticing some subtle changes in Suki’s behaviour. His attention to detail during the initial exam and diagnosis was extremely reassuring—he took the time to explain everything he was observing, the possible causes, and the options available as we went along.

Since then, James has been treating Suki for early-stage arthritis with a combined approach of acupuncture and medication to manage her pain and reduce inflammation. He also recommended and connected me with a physiotherapist to help improve her musculature so she can support herself better. He really takes the time to reassess her at each appointment and make adjustments based on what we’ve been observing, our aspirations and taking into account Suki’s preferences too. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about her comfort and progress.

If you’re looking for a vet who is thorough, compassionate, and committed to finding the best solution for your pet, I can’t recommend James highly enough”

What is acupuncture? ✨
Acupuncture is a gentle, evidence-based treatment that uses very fine needles to stimulate specific points on the body.

For many pets, it’s a calm, relaxing experience - and a powerful tool in managing pain and injuries.

In pets, acupuncture can:
✔ Reduce chronic pain
✔ Improve mobility and comfort
✔ Support recovery after injury or surgery
✔ Reduce inflammation
✔ Promote relaxation and emotional wellbeing

It’s safe, well-tolerated, and can be used alongside your pet’s existing veterinary care.

If your pet is slowing down, stiff, or showing signs of discomfort, acupuncture may be an effective addition to their treatment plan.

Hi, I’m James — The Pain Vet 🙋🏻‍♂️
Originally from Bristol, I graduated from Bristol University Veterinary School in 2014 before beginning my career in a small animal hospital in Banbury. In 2016, I returned to the Bristol University teaching hospital (Langford Veterinary Referral Hospital) to complete a year-long residential postgraduate diploma in Clinical Veterinary Practice.

Since then, I’ve worked across Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, supporting pets and their families through a wide range of medical needs. I now live in Rugby with my partner, Emma and our three dogs.

From very early on, I found myself deeply drawn to the care of ageing pets - especially those living with chronic pain. These appointments quickly became the ones I would happily overrun on, simply because I wanted to give each patient every bit of help, comfort and clarity I could.

That passion ultimately shaped my career. Since 2022, I’ve been running a dedicated chronic pain clinic alongside my acupuncture service, allowing me to focus on what matters most: improving comfort, quality of life and wellbeing for the animals entrusted to my care.

Supporting pets through pain isn’t just part of my job - it’s the reason I do what I do.

Every pet you see here is being supported through a personalised pain management plan - whether that’s chronic arthritis, spinal discomfort, mobility decline or recovery after injury.

Acupuncture, alongside good veterinary care, can:
✨ Reduce inflammation
✨ Activate natural pain-relief pathways
✨ Improve mobility
✨ Support calmer, happier movement

Small changes can make a big difference.
If your pet is slowing down, stiff after resting or just ‘not themselves… I’m here to help.

✨ New name, same mission ✨
JC Veterinary Acupuncture is now The Pain Vet Warwickshire - providing expert care for your pet’s pain, comfort, and overall wellbeing.

Although the name has changed, my commitment hasn’t. The Pain Vet continues to offer the same compassionate, evidence-based support for pets living with chronic pain, mobility issues, arthritis and long-term conditions that affect their quality of life. My mission remains simple: to help your pets move more comfortably, feel more relaxed and enjoy more of the moments that matter.

If you’re unsure whether your pet might benefit from acupuncture, pain management or a tailored comfort plan, I’m always happy to chat. Whether your pet is slowing down, struggling after an injury, stiff first thing in the morning or simply “not quite themselves” you don’t have to navigate it alone.

If you have questions or would like more information, please get in touch - I’d love to support you and your pet.

Together, we can help them feel their best 🐾
