Sweets and I headed to our Area Festival on Saturday at Sparsholt. It was an early start with a 3.55am alarm! It really wasn’t our day; Sweetie was brilliant - she warmed up beautifully, coped with the arena walk and her way of going during the test was the best she’s felt. Sadly, her pilot did not have her brain on the game! I messed up two elements of the test - one was a very expensive mistake - and god only knows what happened to my ability to ride accurate shapes! We live and learn. Onwards! We have a busy Autumn with a manic October, full of BD and riding club qualifiers and all being well with his foot, Hamish will make his riding club debut, too.

After a summer of deep arenas and weather making it too hot to trot, do join us for a session with this exceptional trainer to help you get ready for Autumn competing, or just to get your schooling back on track! We had a fabulous clinic with Tina Layton FABRS BHSI this week, and it was very timely right before Area Festivals! Our arena is currently undergoing a glow-up, so we hired our lovely neighbour’s to get the pre show schooling in. Words slightly fail me on what an amazing camp Liz Marlow put together for Mid Sussex Riding Club. I’m starting to think that renting out Liz’s organisational skills might be a new income stream for the club 🧐

We had the most amazing time; the trainers were all brilliant and brought new things to the table, the facials were fun and a lovely way to relax after a busy ‘move in’ afternoon to get the horses settled, the demo was brilliant and very helpful, the food was consistently fabulous and kept everyone full and content. But the people? Man, our crew were amazing. New friends, old friends - everyone gelled together and had a brilliant time. Max, Sian and Sue, our on foot crew: you were fabulous and I’m pleased to have found a pink wine that Max could tolerate 😆👌

Sweetie was, as always, simply the best. She worked beautifully, was happy in her lovely breezy stable and was just a real gem. I love having special time with her.

What a weekend! One to remember. 💖
