This one matters. A lot.
There’s a rise in “fun dog pools”and honestly?
I love seeing dogs enjoy water.
Joy matters. Movement matters.
But clarity matters more.
Because when a website says:
🐾 “Great for arthritis”
🐾 “Ideal post surgery”
🐾 “Helps recovery”
…that’s no longer just fun swimming.
That’s stepping into clinical territory.
And here’s the problem:
Owners trust what they read.
They don’t always know the difference between:
– enrichment
– exercise
– rehabilitation
So the responsibility falls on us.
If a dog has:
– arthritis
– hip or elbow dysplasia
– post operative needs
– ligament injuries
Then the question isn’t:
“Can they swim?”
It’s:
👉 “Should they be treated clinically?”
The people doing this for the dogs will always say:
“Actually you’d benefit from a hydrotherapy specialist.”
Not because they’re turning business away.
But because they understand:
💡 The wrong environment at the wrong time can delay recovery or worsen it.
Fun pools have a place.
But clinical cases deserve clinical care.
And knowing the difference?
That’s what protects the dog.
