The tiny eggs of the Owl Butterfly (Caligo memnon) with a caterpillar that has just hatched out. They eat their eggshell for their first bit of energy before moving onto the rest of the leaf.

Lot's of Eggfly Butterflies in the Zoo this weekend! This pair are mating and the female will lay up to 200 tiny pearlescent green eggs on the leaves in the zoo!

You can see butterflies hatching in our incubators. They do emerge all day, although the best time to catch them is in the morning!

We do all our own cuttings at the zoo, and we have had great success using these little test tubes which we also sell in the shop! What's your favourite method of propagation?

Mating pair of Glasswing butterflies! We have a population explosion at the moment, so lovely to see them all dancing around each other!

Can you spot the eggs on the leaves? 🕵️‍♀️ Luckily we lend you a magnifier to help with the smaller things! If you look closely you can see these blue morpho eggs on top of the leaf, they blend in by looking like water droplets!

New batch of pupae has just arrived at the butterfly zoo! All glued up ready to go into the incubator. We get 160 delivered every two weeks, to maintain our population, but they are also breeding well this time of year!
