Bea (Curly Sue 💛) was back in today for a clinical massage treatment after developing a little lameness whilst away on holiday.

Thankfully the lameness had resolved by the time I saw her, but during her treatment I found some discomfort within her biceps muscle, along with a few areas of compensatory tension elsewhere in her body.

After a full treatment, comfort was restored and Bea was feeling much happier and more relaxed — ready to get back to living life in the fast lane, just the way a cocker spaniel likes it 🐾

Here she is helping me with my clinic notes afterwards...

Or perhaps making it very clear that she finds paperwork incredibly boring 😴😂

Don't worry, there were plenty of cuddles (and a few snacks) before Dad came to collect her.

It's a hard life being this cute 💛

Meet Poppy 🐾

This lovely 12-year-old Labrador came back for a clinical massage treatment this week after having a long break due to some other medical issues. It was so lovely to see her again - she does love her massage sessions 💛

Poppy has clinical massage to help support her with elbow dysplasia, as well as osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) in both hock joints — a developmental joint condition where the cartilage within the joint doesn’t form quite as it should, which can lead to pain, stiffness, and changes in mobility.

Regular clinical massage helps to reduce muscular tension and discomfort associated with compensation patterns, helping Poppy stay as comfortable and mobile as possible.
Her owner has noticed some lovely improvements following treatment, including:

🐾 better sleeping patterns
🐾 sleeping more soundly for longer periods
🐾 improved agility and ease of movement

It’s always wonderful hearing about the small day-to-day changes that can make such a big difference to a dog’s quality of life 🥰

Molly, patiently waiting for her post-treatment treat…
(or perhaps impatiently might be more accurate 😅) 🐾

Molly is nearly 14 years old and comes for regular clinical massage treatments to help keep her comfortable, mobile, and enjoying life.

As dogs get older, it’s very common for little muscular niggles and areas of tension to begin creeping in. Clinical massage helps to address these early, before they have the chance to develop into bigger issues affecting movement, posture, or everyday comfort.

Molly is a wonderful example of how supportive, regular treatment can help older dogs continue to feel good in themselves 💛
And despite her senior years, her enthusiasm for treats remains completely unaffected 🤭

Some things never change 🐾

Meet Simba 🐾

Simba is a 12-and-a-half-year-old Cocker Spaniel… and very much a live wire.

A proper fidget bum.

When he first came to see me for his clinical massage treatment, settling was definitely not high on his priority list. He was far more interested in everything else going on around him.

And honestly… that’s completely normal.

I share a lot of photos of dogs looking beautifully sleepy and relaxed during treatment, but what people don’t always see is the time, patience, and gentle encouragement it often takes to get there.

Many dogs — especially on their first few visits — are busy, fidgety, excited, unsure, or simply too interested in life to switch off straight away.

That does not mean clinical massage isn’t for them.

Part of my job is working with each dog as an individual, helping them feel safe, comfortable, and confident enough to relax into treatment. A lifetime spent around animals (and dogs in particular!) definitely helps with that.

Simba was referred to me because he had been struggling more and more with daily life. He’d lost some of his sparkle and was spending more time away from his family, choosing to sleep in his bed rather than being involved.

For a naturally clingy dog, this was very out of character.

With some gentle encouragement, Simba settled beautifully for his session, and after just one treatment, his owners have already noticed a lovely change — he seems happier, is spending less time away from everyone, and is becoming more part of family life again.

And that is exactly why I do what I do 💛

I’m really looking forward to seeing how he progresses over the coming sessions.

So if you’ve ever thought, “my dog would never sit still long enough for massage…”
please know — you’re probably not alone, and it may still be absolutely possible 🐾

Meet Flo 🐾

Flo is a working Cocker Spaniel and, true to form, she is a wonderfully crazy little girl who lives life firmly in the fast lane.

Her owners brought her in after noticing intermittent lameness in one of her front legs, so we booked her in for an assessment and treatment to try and get to the bottom of it.

During treatment, I found a few muscular strains — small tears within the muscle — which are actually very common injuries, especially in active, enthusiastic dogs like Flo.

Because of this discomfort, she had also started to develop some muscular imbalances, with other areas working harder to compensate.

These types of soft tissue injuries are really common, but if left untreated they can lead to ongoing lameness, changes in movement, posture, and even affect everyday activities.

Despite being a little sore, Flo relaxed beautifully into her treatment and was a very good patient 💛

And then… in true gundog style… she finished her session by proudly retrieving my smelly old shoe and parading it around the treatment room like the greatest prize she’d ever won 😅🐾

I’d like to introduce Cuco who’s approximately 14 years old. She is such a sweetheart, those big brown eyes we’re doing their best to extract more treats from me! 🤭

Cuco has been struggling more and more lately with getting about so her lovely mum brought her in for a free muscular health check.

During her check up, I identified areas of discomfort in her back and neck. We also discussed ways in which little adaptations around the house could help her comfort and mobility.

Cuca will be having a course of clinical massage in the near future with the hope that she can get some of her sparkle back

I saw Frankl today for one of his regular clinical massage sessions to help ease stiffness and keep him moving comfortably.

Lately he’s been particularly energetic and bouncy — I suspect the longer days and drier weather might have something to do with that!

Frankl is a lovely mix of calm and mischief. One moment he’s full of playful enthusiasm, the next he’s hugged up, snoozing quietly.

Regular clinical massage helps dogs like Frankl stay comfortable and mobile, especially when they’re enjoying life to the full.

And judging by the way he relaxed during his treatment this week, I think it’s safe to say he’s quite a fan of his massage sessions.

Does anyone else have a dog who seems to get an extra spring in their step at this time of year? 🌼
