Dear all.
Sorry for the lack of training and communication for so long.

November I sadly lost Iris. She got herself disoriented at the end of a walk and followed the wrong person ending up on a road.
I still have questions mushing about in my head.
How?
Why?

I miss her so much especially as I’d waited so long for her and her connection to Meeka.
I will never ever understand that evening.

I have also been struggling with my back again, using crutches to mobilise, so it’s not been easy to get Betty and Fred out, let alone offer training.

However, I am at the end of a phone, message or email and happy to help if I can.

I’d also like to start offering home visits again, so long as the issue isn’t a fully grown 30kg dog jumping up at people, my balance may have me in a crumpled mess on the floor!!

Please do contact me, if I don’t answer a call, please leave a brief clear message and I’ll call you back as soon as I can.

In the meantime, enjoy your gingers and think of me extracting the terrierists out of yet another bunny hole because they aren’t well behaved Vizslas.

Excuse the mess. Iris is happy sitting in her bed so we started here. This exercise will be moved to the garden and then out on a walk.

Practicing sit and walking away.

At what age can I start training my puppy?
A question often asked.
A good breeder will have already started some for you.
When a breeder moved the litter, say from kitchen to garden, the pups are learning already that following a human is fun and leads to nice things.
Many litters raised inside will be familiar with hoovers, washing machines and other household appliances.

But you as the new owner, when should you start to train your pup?

Straight away.
Within play and feeding are excellent ways of introducing training.
Recall - decide what word you are going to use for your recall and stick with it.
Recall for me is pup coming to me and stopping/sitting in front of me not jumping up or running away as soon as you’ve said good pup.

Use meal times to introduce your recall command.

Recall your dog and feed it.

Introducing Lindenwood Bewitched with Ismeya, Iris. I couldn’t be without a vizsla too long after loosing islay.
This little one is Meekas great grandaughter so I have great plans for her future.

Small puppy training starting soon.
Watch this space.
Regards
Emma and Iris.

Dear all.
I am temporarily giving up training for the moment.
Sadly I lost islay on Saturday after her health deteriorated over the past month.
If I have already arranged any sessions I will still carry them out.
Happy new year and hug your gingers tight.

I’m often asked about my homemade training treats. So here it is:
1 egg
1tin of tuna
Flour.

I have run out of flour so I’m adding oats and cheese instead.
The last batch I made had grated carrot in.

Keep in fridge when not in use, I have also frozen it.

***Please note not suitable for dogs with wheat allergies***

Would anyone be interested in a 1/2 session in a secure dog field working purely on recall?
Dates and times to suit, two dogs at a time plus my terriers to add distraction.
Secure field is Romsey.

Some heel work training with pups, although not vizslas the principle is still the same, lots of stopping or changing direction, getting back to the right position, command, praise and off again.
I’m also bringing in a new command “sniff” so when on the lead and we come to a grass verge they can have a sniff then back to heel.
I have them in different thicknesses of leads so I know who I need to check if one starts pulling again.
