✨WHAT HEIGHT IS YOUR DOG BOWL?✨

Feeder height directly influences posture and weight distribution.

When dogs eat from the floor, the head and neck are held in sustained flexion. This shifts the centre of gravity forwards, increasing load through the forelimbs, shoulders and cervical spine. Over time, that forward loading can contribute to excessive strain… particularly in dogs with arthritis, weakness or postural dysfunction.

A raised feeder encourages a more neutral spinal position ✨

✔️ Reduces cervical flexion
✔️ Decreases strain through the forelimbs
✔️ Shifts the centre of gravity slightly backwards
✔️ Promotes more balanced weight distribution
✔️ Promotes neutral posture through the spine and limbs

This is particularly important for dogs with spinal or forelimb issues, but it isn’t just useful for injured dogs- it can be a simple preventative strategy to reduce everyday mechanical stress.

N.B the bowl height should be a height that encourages a straight line through the neck and spine, not so high the dog is having to extend the neck to reach into it. Usually elbow height is about right, but this is dependent on breed/conformation

My customers will know the catastrophe in my building at the end of October. It takes a lot for me to ask for help but as my insurance company has refused my legitimate claim, I have no option.

I have set up a gofundme to help offset some of the thousands of pounds of unexpected costs associated with rebuilding the pool and repairing the treadmill after flood damage.

I am taking my insurance claim to the Financial Ombudsman, a process that will take months with no guarantee of success.

If anyone - customers or not - feels able to donate to the gofundme, it will enable me to keep doing what I love, helping dogs young and old to get the most out of their lives.

Thank you

**Wi******er Road - road closure from Monday 12th to Friday 23rd February**

A reminder that Wi******er Road, between the Botley Road junction and Cupernham Lane will be closed from next Monday through until Friday 23rd February to allow for the connection of utilities to the new development on the old bicycle show room.

Diversion routes will be via Cupernham Lane, Fishlake Meadows and Alma Road for East/West traffic and via Halterworth Lane and Wi******er Road for those who would turn right at the bottom of Botley Road.

The busier week is of course going to be the second one, when the schools have returned for half term. Do please plan your journeys through Romsey and allow some extra time while the closure is in place.

💦 We welcomed Wilson back to the pool today so he could do his part of a fundraising Dog Duathlon with his mum. She ran 20 miles this morning and Wilson swam for 20 minutes this lunchtime - all on his 10th birthday!
💦 Thank you to all of our customers who have sponsored Wilson and Sarette in the last couple of weeks. You’ve been so generous! At the time of writing you’ve helped them raise £1,450 for and (that’s just the online donations - the money in the collection bucket has yet to be counted).
💦 They will sleep well tonight!

Pool swimmers on Mondays and Fridays will know Sarette - she and her dog Wilson are doing a dog duathlon in September to raise money for Pensions4Paws and Hampshire Search & Rescue Dogs.

Wilson is doing the swimming part in our pool (his happy place!). Please consider sponsoring them if you can.

Weʼre raising money to help retired police and fire dogs, and volunteer SAR dogs. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

💦 This is Stevie 💦
Stevie has been coming for hydro for several months following her second hip replacement.
She was a little unsure at first but is now a calm and confident swimmer and she loves her time with us.
Stevie is such a gentle German Shepherd - she’s our first swimmer on Mondays and gets our week off to a great start!

💦 Meet Leonberger Zorro!
💦 Zorro is approaching a year old and is a very big boy - a gentle giant.
💦 He comes to us to help build muscle mass and tone as he’s growing so quickly.
💦 He’s a firm favourite with the team, and after being a little unsure on his first dip in the pool, he’s now off the ramp and in without any hesitation.
💦 Well done, Zorro!
