RARE BREEDS

Here at Hainault Hydrotherapy we are lucky enough to see hundreds of your amazing doggies every week! Some of which are breeds that we don’t see very often! Below are some of our more rare breeds… do you recognise any?

CAN MY ANXIOUS DOG HAVE HYDROTHERAPY?

Yes! Our team has lots of experience in handling more anxious dogs. We do expect a level of anxiety with our canine patients when they first start their rehabilitation journey as most of our patients are coming to us to manage a health condition.

Our recommendations for anxious dogs:

🐾 Laser sessions beforehand focusing on their neck as this has been shown to release endorphins, promoting a calming effect.

🐾 Stay with one hydrotherapist until they are comfortable in the hydrotherapy environment.

🐾 Working with your dog at their own pace.

🐾 Where possible, we will introduce your dog to the treatment rooms during their initial consultation.

If you have any questions about booking your anxious dog in, please get in touch 📞

😛 TONGUE OUT TUESDAY 😛

Our stars this week are Bruce and Dougal!

Lovely Bruce is doing very well in his sessions with Megan! As Bruce is a senior boy now, regular k-laser and pool sessions help keep him comfortable and mobile!

Crazy Dougal is doing amazingly well in his sessions! He now absolutely loves his swims with Kathryn and his specialist vet has said they’re very happy with his progress!

WHY DO WE LASER BEFORE HYDRO?

1. Pain Reduction: K-Laser therapy can help reduce pain by decreasing inflammation and modulating nerve function. This can make the hydrotherapy session more comfortable for the patient, especially if they are experiencing pain due to injury or a chronic condition.

2. Inflammation Reduction: The laser light can pe*****te tissues and reduce inflammation by affecting cellular function and reducing the production of inflammatory mediators. Reduced inflammation can improve the effectiveness of hydrotherapy.

3. Improved Circulation: K-Laser therapy can enhance blood flow to the treated area. Improved circulation helps in delivering oxygen and nutrients to the tissues, which can accelerate healing and improve tissue function during and after hydrotherapy.

4. Muscle Relaxation: The therapy can help relax muscles and reduce muscle spasms. This relaxation can improve the patient's range of motion and make hydrotherapy exercises easier and more effective.

5. Enhanced Tissue Repair: By stimulating cellular activity, K-Laser therapy can promote tissue repair and regeneration. This can be particularly beneficial for patients recovering from injuries or surgeries, as it complements the healing effects of hydrotherapy.

In summary, we use K-Laser therapy before hydrotherapy to reduce pain and inflammation, improve circulation, relax muscles, and enhance tissue repair, thereby optimising the benefits of the hydrotherapy session.

BODY LANGUAGE DAY

Did you know that a lot of dog owners struggle to tell if their pet is happy or not?

It is key that we can understand basic canine behaviour to ensure our dog’s wellbeing, changes in our dogs’ behaviour can be caused by their genetics, if they’re in pain, overstimulation, inconsistent training, past experiences and their environment.

If you notice a drastic change in your dog’s behaviour, it is best to take them to their vet for a check-up just in case!

OCTOBERS BREED OF THE MONTH IS THE COCKERPOO

🐾 There’s two types of cockerpoo; F1 and F2. F1 cockerpoos are cross between a spaniel and a poodle whereas the parents of an F2 are both cockerpoos!

🐾 There’s endless colour combinations that cockerpoos can be!

🐾 They are believed to be the first ‘designer’ breed!

🐾 They are low-shedding which means they’re great for people with allergies!

NATIONAL BLACK DOG DAY

In many cultures, black dogs are seen as symbols of mystery, protection, or even bad omens. Despite these superstitions, black dogs often face challenges in shelters, a phenomenon known as "Black Dog Syndrome," where they are less likely to be adopted than dogs of other colors.

However, black dogs are just as loving, loyal, and playful as any other dog. Their sleek coats can make them incredibly striking, and their personalities are as diverse as their appearances. Black dog day is a perfect time to highlight the wonderful qualities of black dogs and help them find loving homes.

If you're looking to adopt a dog, consider a black dog. You might find that these wonderful companions are the perfect addition to your family, bringing joy and dispelling any myths with their affectionate nature.
