Good morning! I just wanted to share this information, I know all of my clients are aware of this, but this is for the people that have never left their dog before, 1st time dog/pet owners or just simply are not aware of the requeirements.
I'm part of a few Pet Services facebook groups and this is a topic that always has a bit of miss understanding of which services should have what, etc...
So please share with your friends and family, before they hire anyone to care for their fur babies!
--> People that offer Daycare & Boarding services in their own Home (like me) requier a license from their council. Without a license, they can not have a valid insurance, they don't have inspections and there's no limit to how many dogs they may have at one time. You can resquest to see proof of license and insurance. If something where to happen to your pup while in their care, there wouldn't be an insurance to cover anything, and your insurance wouldn't cover it either.
You can also go to your Council's website and see a list of all of the people who hold a license and are legally able to care for your fur baby (this applies to cataries and other small animals too).
There are a few platforms used, like Rover for people to find pet care, being part of these websites does not mean they have a license! As a few of these types of websites do not ask for proof, it's on the small print, that they have to be law abiding.
Please do your checks before leaving your pup.
--> People that offer Pet Sitting services in your Home, drop in visits & walks do not requier a license, they should be insured and preferbably Canine 1st aid trained.
I hope this helps clarify the topic, on the diferent services and diferent requeirments needed for each service, and if you know someone that is looking for any of these services, pelease make sure that they do all of their checks before leaving their furry friend with anyone.
I hope you have a Pawsome day 🐾🐾
