We’ve been campaigning since 2006 asking the veterinary profession to scan and check microchip registration at pets first treatment. Our 2020 petition which triggered a debate in Parliament last year, is now being assessed by the Government’s department Defra. We will forward Cassie’s story to them.

Update from her owner, Stuart:
“We would just like to say a great BIG thank you to all the people that have helped over the years and given us support in trying to find Cassie.
It was very emotional getting her back and with 3 of her puppies at the age of 9.
We are giving her lots of love and she is getting on well with our other dog, we gave the puppies to good homes cant thank you enough for all your help its just amazing. Should be made into a film !!!! It was the best Christmas Present Jayne and Stuart ###### “

We would like to share some news with you this afternoon.

Officers visited an address on Sandy Lane, Tadley, on Wednesday 11 August following information received from our partners at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

We were told a puppy farm was at the location and a dachshund, named Bella, was found at the scene.

She was later identified as being stolen from Aylesford, Kent, in November last year.

The dog was found with five of her puppies inside a cage on the grass area at the front of the address.

All of the dogs were safely taken to a secure kennel and our colleagues at Kent Police have been updated.

Our enquiries are ongoing.

RAID IN DUNMOW.
Three people have been arrested and 27 dogs seized following a warrant in Dunmow as part of an investigation into dog thefts.

Officers, supported by the RSPCA, carried out the warrant at an address in Braintree Road on 1 April.

They seized 27 dogs, 19 adults and eight puppies, include spaniels, lurchers, terriers, a French bulldog, and a rottweiler.

It is believed the puppies, which are between six and 10 weeks old, may have been born on site.

Officers are currently in the process of identifying the dogs and establish if they are stolen and, if they are, identify their owners.

Three people – a 54 year-old woman and two boys aged 14 and 16 – were arrested on suspicion of theft and animal cruelty.

They have since been released under investigation.

PC Glenn Braden, from the Uttlesford Community Policing Team, said:

“We know the devastation the loss of a much-loved pet can cause and we take reports of thefts seriously.

“We have been carrying out extensive enquiries into recent reports of thefts and this warrant comes as part of that.

“We are now working to identify the dogs we found at this address and, if stolen, identify their owner so we can return them.

“If you have any information about the theft of a dog then we need you to contact us.”

If you have any information about the theft of dogs or believe one of the seized dogs may be yours, please call us on 101 quoting incident 136 of 1 April.
