Due to the continued extreme temperatures forecast for Tuesday, we have made the responsible decision to rearrange all routine appointments currently booked for that day and rebook them later in the week.

Thankfully we are already closed tomorrow for the Bank Holiday, however with Tuesday set to remain an absolute scorcher, we simply do not feel comfortable asking clients to travel dogs in these conditions unless absolutely necessary.

This decision has been made purely with the safety and welfare of both yourselves and your dogs in mind. God forbid somebody breaks down en route, gets stuck in traffic, or a dog begins to overheat whilst travelling or waiting for appointments. It simply isn’t a risk we feel is worth taking for routine visits.

All affected clients will be contacted in due course to rearrange appointments. Telephone consultations and Google Meet appointments will still go ahead as planned.

We know this may cause a little inconvenience and we truly appreciate your understanding, but our priority will always be the wellbeing of the dogs entrusted to us.

Please stay safe, keep cool, and remember… no dog ever died from missing an outing in hot weather. Dogs can, however, become critically ill from heatstroke frighteningly fast.

The bulldogs have spoken… and they’re choosing shade, snacks and absolutely no cardio today. ☀️🥵

Please, please think twice before walking your dogs in this heat. And not just bulldogs either. ALL dogs can overheat frighteningly fast in hot and humid weather.

A lot of people think “I’ll go early morning” or “late evening” but when the air is still heavy and humid, dogs can still really struggle to cool themselves properly. Brachy breeds especially, like bulldogs, can go downhill very quickly.

Truthfully? No dog ever died from missing a walk for a few days. But heatstroke can and does kill.

A few simple ways to help keep your dogs comfortable:

• Keep curtains and blinds closed during the hottest parts of the day• Fans on and airflow moving through the house• Cool mats, damp towels and shaded areas available• Fresh water everywhere — not just one bowl• Frozen enrichment treats and stuffed Kongs work brilliantly• Avoid over excitement and rough play indoors too• NEVER leave dogs in conservatories, caravans or cars• Garden access only when there’s proper shade available

And remember… if the pavement feels hot to your hand, it’s far too hot for paws.

Our lot are embracing the “rotisserie chicken recovery position” in front of the fan until further notice. 😂

Stay safe everyone and keep those squishy faces cool ❤️

Still very much a work in progress on this animation thing… but the message stays the same ☀️🐾

It’s hotting up out there and dogs of ALL breeds can overheat frighteningly fast. We’ll be posting a little series of animations over the coming weeks to highlight some of the risks, not to spoil anyone’s fun, but to help make people aware before problems happen.

Heatstroke doesn’t care if your dog is fit, young, fluffy, flat faced, working bred or “usually fine in the heat”. It can happen quickly and it can turn serious even quicker.

Early mornings. Late evenings. Shade. Water. Cool heads.

And remember… no dog ever died from missing a walk. Plenty have from one in the wrong weather.

Look after those four legged idiots we all love ❤️

🚨 Calling all our Labrador breeder clients! 🚨

We seem to have had a sudden influx of lovely families looking for Labrador puppies recently and rather than sending them off into the wild west of the internet… we thought we’d ask our own people first 👀🐾

If you’re a North West Breeding Services client with a current or upcoming Labrador litter and you’d potentially like us to pass your details on to suitable families, drop us a message with some information on your pups, colours, ages and location.

As always, we’d much rather point families towards breeders we know, trust and have worked with ❤️

AND… this is exactly why we’ve been working behind the scenes on the new and improved Puppy Patch website 👀🐶

A proper place for our clients to advertise their puppies, connect with genuine families and showcase responsible breeding without getting lost amongst the chaos of social media puppy selling groups. Coming soon… and honestly? We’re very excited about it.

The puppy world is noisy enough without adding “cash only, collection from layby” adverts into the mix 😅

🐾 Teaching Tuesday 🐾

“Puppies should DOUBLE their birth weight in the first week…”

…has probably caused more breeder panic than almost anything else on the internet 😅

Some pups fly past it.Some steadily plod along. Some drop a little before bouncing back.Singletons often grow completely differently to large litters.

The important thing in that first week? A gain or even a maintain each day can absolutely be adequate depending on the puppy, litter size and circumstances.

If you’d like a FREE pack of puppy charts and record sheets to print at home to help monitor weights, worming, observations and feeding, just let us know. They’re brilliant for keeping organised… and remember, detailed records are part of your breeders licence requirements too 👀🐾

And if you’re worried, new to breeding or simply emotionally exhausted after birth and running on three coffees and adrenaline… give us a call ☕🐾

Our famous welfare visits are as friendly as a brew and a puppy chat. We typically stay around an hour, giving you chance to steal our breeder brain, ask all your questions, talk through your birth story and have an experienced pair of eyes check over mum and babies.

We can also ultrasound scan mum post whelp to help give the all clear that there are no retained puppies or obvious concerns following labour, offering that extra bit of reassurance during those emotional first few days.

We’re here to hold your hand ❤️

This morning I booked myself back in with the legendary Jane Ardern to help me out of a little training rut I’ve managed to get myself into with Jasper Dog… my working cocker spaniel 🤣

I’ve known Jane for over 15 years and one thing that’s never changed is the trust I have in her. She doesn’t just train dogs… she understands people too. Half the time when she explains something I’m like “ahhhhh yeah… that makes total sense.” But when you’re in the thick of it? Sometimes you genuinely can’t see the wood for the trees.

Honestly, I’ve read some absolute tosh online lately. People stating things as fact because “they’ve always done it that way.” One lady proudly announced she’d bred 30 years, always mated once on day 12 and never missed. Either she’s unbelievably lucky or there’s a little storytelling involved there because real life canine reproduction just doesn’t work that way consistently.

That’s why having trusted professionals around you matters.

Jane has always been that for me. Matter of fact, incredibly knowledgeable, driven and genuinely passionate about dogs and the humans attached to them. Slight girl crush? Probably 🤣

And actually… that’s exactly what we aim to be for our North West Breeding Services clients too.

We all have brain fumbles. We all get stuck. We all need someone who says “I get it.”

Whether you’re brand new to breeding or 20 years in and wanting to understand newer science, technology and fertility management… we’re here for that. Mentor sessions, support calls, in person appointments… whatever helps you feel less alone in the chaos.

We’re here to hold your hand……and your paw 🐾

And if you need a dog trainer? Turns out I’m friends with the best 😏❤️

This weekend we’ve had two separate clients contact us after what they described as really upsetting experiences with their veterinary practices.

Now before anyone sharpens the pitchforks, we only ever hear one side of the story in these situations. Veterinary professionals work under enormous pressure and I genuinely believe the vast majority go into the profession because they care deeply about animals.

But it did get me thinking after a conversation with one of our trusted vet friends this morning…

Years ago, vets were voted amongst the most trusted professions in the country. Yet now, so many conversations seem to start from a place of suspicion instead of trust.

Clients questioning motives.Vets feeling challenged.Breeders feeling dismissed.Owners feeling intimidated or scared to ask questions.Professionals feeling constantly judged or complained about.

Some clients now walk into consultations already assuming they’re being “sold to”.Some vets, understandably, may already be bracing themselves for confrontation before they’ve even entered the room.

And honestly? Social media hasn’t helped any of us.

We now live in a world where:People don’t trust the news.They don’t trust politicians.They don’t trust banks.They don’t trust the food industry.They don’t trust pharmaceutical companies.They don’t trust breeders.They don’t trust trainers.And increasingly… they don’t trust vets either.

Some of that distrust has come from genuine bad experiences. Some of it from misinformation. Some of it from fear. Some of it from people simply not communicating properly anymore.

I also think breeders need to look inward at times too. I hear situations where, hand on heart, I can completely understand why veterinary professionals become frustrated. There are absolutely occasions where more education, preparation and accountability should have happened before breeding decisions were ever made.

But equally, clients should never feel too intimidated, emotional or overwhelmed to ask questions about their animals.

So where do we go from here?

How do we rebuild trust between owners, breeders and veterinary professionals?

Is it better communication?More transparency?More education?More empathy?More accountability from everyone involved?

I genuinely don’t know the answer. But I do think the conversation matters.

Because once trust disappears from society, everything becomes adversarial… and animals ultimately sit in the middle of that fallout.

Interested to hear respectful thoughts from all sides on this one.

We offer TITRE TESTING !

currently for just £89.99 have your dog titre tested with us and know where your immunity levels are !!!

I need to be honest with you.

Core vaccinations for our pets (C3 for dogs, F3 for cats) are very EFFECTIVE disease protection. They stimulate a LONG LASTING, STRONG immunity for at least 5-7 years. Often longer, sometimes lifelong.

Almost all pets who have a core vaccination after 16 weeks of age will mount an immune response, create antibodies, and be protected from disease for at least 5-7 years, and often longer.

There are exceptions - for example, Rottweilers respond poorly to parvo vaccinations and may need to be re-vaccinated yearly for adequate protection.

VACCINATIONS ALSO CARRY VERY REAL RISKS!

Any vaccination can trigger acute or chronic vaccination reactions or injuries. (The veterinary industry in general doesn't believe in chronic vaccination injuries - but I know these happen, and I've treated heaps of pets with them over the years. e.g allergies, IBD, Autoimmune diseases, and chronic illnesses)

Even in the vaccine inserts, and in the Merck Manual, you'll see that documented side effects of vaccination (in rare cases) include death.

That doesn't mean that the risk benfit for vaccinating your pets doesn;t stack up. I believe that in most cases, it does. I've seen too many unvaccinated dogs die a terrible death from parvo to be ant-vax.

At the same time, I'm not blindly pro-vax.

I believe that we should all be thinking about how to maximise protection from deadly diseases like parvo, while at the same time minimizing how many vaccinations our pets receive.

The easiest way to do this is to TITER TEST to check antibody levels before re-vaccinating. Unfortunately, this is often expensive (though you can have your vet draw blood and you send it off in the post for more affordable tests if you live in the USA!).

If you live in other countries, request your vets order in and stock the Vaccicheck in-house kits (they are MUCH more affordable).

Your goal should be NEVER to give your pets any UNNECESSARY vaccination. This way, you'll make sure you protect them while minimising risk of harm from the vaccines.

How do you feel about this tricky topic? Love to hear from you in the comments!

I help animals all over the world heal and be well + happy with holistic veterinary care, kind training, and energy healing. If you want me to help your pets, message me! Zoom and in person appts available.
