It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our trustees.

June Irving was a trustee with us for 9 years and a volunteer for many years previous to this. She was a passionate advocate for animals of all kinds and her kindness, help and support here touched the lives of so many — both human and animal alike.

Beyond her work with us, June will be remembered for her warm heart, generosity, and deep love for all living beings. Her loss will be felt greatly here by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

We are incredibly grateful for everything June did for us here at the centre. Her compassion and legacy will continue to live on in all the animals we help.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time. ❤️

💚 Cappy and Naana have been waiting nearly 6 months to find a new family but have not managed to find love so far - could you be the one they have been looking for? 💚

These boys are looking for pastures new after their previous owners were no longer able to keep them anymore. Could you be the one to add them to your family tree? If so, they would love to meet you!

In terms of temperament, these boys are beginning to enjoy human company and they brighten up our days no end. They will make the most wonderful addition to the home of whoever is lucky enough to adopt them.

Guinea pigs make fantastic pets and our staff here can answer any questions that you have about their care.

🐾❤️ Volunteers’ Week ❤️🐾

It is National Volunteers Week this week and so today, we wanted to shine a light on the incredible people who make so much of what we do possible – our amazing volunteers.

Whether they’re welcoming visitors on reception, helping in our charity shops, or helping to care for the animals on site at the centre, every single volunteer plays a vital role in the work we do here at RSPCA Hollingworth Lake Animal Centre 🧡.

Behind every animal that finds safety, receives care, begins rehabilitation, or starts a journey to a loving new home, there are volunteers giving their time, energy, kindness and compassion. Their dedication helps us provide a second chance to so many animals who need us.

Our volunteers don't just give their time – they give their hearts. They comfort frightened animals, support our staff through the busiest days, raise vital funds in our shops, and greet everyone who walks through our doors with warmth and care.

Quite simply, we could not do what we do without them.

To every volunteer, past and present: thank you. Thank you for the early mornings, the busy days, the purrs, the patience, the smiles, and the unwavering commitment to animal welfare.

You are the reason so many animals get the happy endings they deserve.

🩵 MEET MALCOLM - 3 YEARS OLD 🩵

Meet Malcolm, a gentle soul who is still learning that the world does have snippets of kindness within it. Having experienced life as a stray, Malcolm was understandably a little shy when he first arrived but he has now gained lots of confidence which is lovely for us to see.

Behind his shy exterior, is a sweet, soft hearted cat who just needs a calm place to call home. Could you be the wonderful human that Malcolm needs on his side?

Malcolm most definitely has an aura of quiet charm about him and we know that with the right person and the right home, he will become a confident cuddle expert. He is looking for someone who understands that the best bonds aren't rushed - they are built one paw at a time. He is already rolling over on his back here when we go into his pen for fusses.

Give Malcolm a chance and you may just be rewarded with the most loyal feline friend in return! Cats like Malcolm are the true definition of a rescue cat. It may take time and patience, but on the other side of that patience will be a bond that no-one and nothing can break.

🌼 MEET MARIGOLD - 2 YEARS OLD 🌼

Meet Marigold! This gorgeous young lady was sadly abandoned by her previous owner and brought into us by RSPCA inspectors as a result. At the time of being left behind, Marigold was also a week away from giving birth and so despite being just two years old, she has gone through an awful lot.

Despite this ordeal, Marigold has continued to bring the sunshine into our lives every single day. She is affectionate, chatty and friendly and is everything that you could wish for in a feline friend. She will make the most wonderful companion to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her.

After a week of arriving with us here, Marigold gave birth to four kittens and did an amazing job at being their mum. She has now however arrived at the stage of her life where she can get back to her own path and dedicate time to finding a place to plant her paws and call home. Could you be part of her future and provide her with the loving home that she deserves? We sure hope so!

Now that the sunny weather is finally here for us all to enjoy - it is the perfect time to ensure our local wildlife is catered for and for us to ensure our gardens are looking great! 🌳🍄🦊🦆

We can definitely help with that as our onsite shop stocks a variety of wildlife foods and also lots of garden ornaments and seeds to decorate your outside space.

The benefit of purchasing from us is that all money made here goes towards caring for our residents and allows us to keep helping as many animals as possible.

We have had a chat with our cats regarding how we can help them in this hot weather. ☀️

We were expecting requests for a day trip to the beach 🏖️, or the delivery of a truck load of catnip iced cream 🍦 but as it turns out, all they are after is a few more fans to keep the cattery cool. Could you help us to make that happen?

🚀💫 GALAXY - 2 YEAR OLD MALE 🚀💫

Meet Galaxy! He is a 2 year old male who arrived with us as a stray after spending months evading capture - clearly this boy was determined to stay in his own orbit! We suspect he may have been dumped quite close to the centre here, so learning to trust humans again has proven to be a slow journey but that is absolutely fine with us. We are happy to move at his pace.

Whilst settling in with us, Galaxy has made it very clear that personal space is important to him. He can be a litte hissy and occasionally spicy but that just adds to his charm. We really want to find him a forever family who will take things at his pace and provide him with all the patience he needs in order to flourish and gain confidence.

Beneath Galaxy's catitiude is a cat who simply needs understanding and a calm environment where he can move at his own speed. We are therefore seeking an experienced cat owner for Galaxy who can show him that the love and patience of a forever family really does feel out of this world.

Galaxy would best suit an adult only home with no other pets, and his future humans should be prepared that he may always be more of a distant star than a lap cat. However for someone willing to give him the time and space he deserves, helping Galaxy finally land safely will be incredibly rewarding nonetheless.

He is a handsome chap and he deserves the world. Could you help us make that happen for him? We sure hope so!
