We did it!

Last night, Neil, Mark and Phil were present at the XL Vets Awards. Bishopton is a founding member of this collaborative community of independent veterinary practices, which enables us to exchange information, share ideas, and access training opportunities while maintaining our independence.

We were delighted to win the Emerging Technologies ("Vet 3.0") prize, which recognises our work at the cutting edge of veterinary technology. Judges noted that Tech is important to us, throughout our teams – but the clearest example of this in action is through our sister company, RAFT Solutions.

Together with RAFT, we have set up a Software as a Service company to make it easier for vets and farmers to use technology, called VetDX, as well as multiple new technologies for use in practice, including:

- Use of artificial intelligence to augment clinical diagnostics as part of on farm bull breeding soundness examinations.
- Sensors and digital tech development to support targeted use of methane-reducing supplements.
- Machine learning and speciation of coccidia parasites to support more responsible medicines use.
- Development of rapid diagnostics for mastitis causing pathogens for targeted responsible use of antimicrobials.
- Machine learning to develop smartphone based welfare assessment sensor tools for vets and farmers.

In our small animal department we are using 3D printed models and guides to maximise our surgical accuracy and clinical outcomes in complex cases such as angular limb deformities.

We were also thrilled to be 'Highly Commended' in the Small Steps, Big Impact category, for our ongoing work in Sustainability and 'Tomorrow Starts Today' which examined how we and other firms nurture and support future veterinary teams.

Big congratulations to Thrums, of Scotland, who had an exceptional night, winning three categories!

Do you keep cattle? If so, we need your help…

Help us to defeat cattle disease
A new project that aims to change how we control cattle disease across the four nations has been jointly launched by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and the University of Nottingham. More information about the project and what it is trying to achieve can be found here: https://bvdplatform.org/.
But we can't do it without your help. The experience and expertise of cattle managers is critical to the success of this project.
That's why we're asking for 15 minutes of your valuable time to fill in this questionnaire - and hopefully make a huge change for the health of our cattle!
Go to http://bit.ly/cattlediseasedecisions
There’s also updated information about our project at www.bvdplatform.org.
Thank you!

"Sexed semen offers a key tool to target maternal genetics in the animals bred as replacements and ultimately terminal beef traits, producing more efficient and lower emissions in beef" SemenRate(R) offers decision support to enhance sustainable repro success in the first phase of the breeding season.

Several innovative ideas are helping the Phipps family ensure the beef it supplies to Morrisons has as low a carbon footprint as possible
