Summer preparation is in full swing!

Itโ€™s that time of year when the clippers are out and the sheep are getting a well-earned shear, keeping them cool and comfortable as temperatures rise. Post-shearing dips are helping to protect against external parasites, keeping flocks healthy heading into summer.

It's also the perfect opportunity for general health screening such as booking their initial AHWP visit.

The Animal Health & Welfare Pathway offers a huge step forward in tackling persistent issues like anthelmintic resistanceโ€”but it only works if it fits into the realities of day-to-day practice.
Thatโ€™s why our platform is designed with vets and farmers in mind, making on-farm data capture simpler, faster, and more accurate. Features like QR code scanning ensure results are linked directly to the right animals - no more transcription errors, no more lost paperwork.

Did you know that Helminth infections cause significant economic losses?

In Europe's ruminant livestock industry, they're estimated to cost 1.8 billion euros annually.

GI nematodes (roundworm) are the most common helminths in sheep, and the most important infection limiting production (NADIS). In the UK they're also the most costly and are said to be the single most expensive endemic disease.

Animal Health and Welfare Pathway update: Multiple herds edition ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ๐Ÿ„

On 26th June 2025, the AHWP was updated meaning farmers in England can now get funded vet visits for multiple herds or flocks on the same farm โ€“ including cattle, pigs and sheep. Increased disease resilience means healthier animals and greater food security, boosting farmers' profits.

Farmers can apply for a vet of their choice to assess all their herds and flocks along with an optional funded follow-up.

Keep an eye out for more details on the next update ๐Ÿ‘€
