🔥 NEW FOREST FIRE & TRAVEL UPDATE 🔥
Morning everyone,
A little update on the New Forest fire and how to get to us at the moment.
It was certainly a bit of a concern for us for a while, but thankfully we are all OK and the horses are safe. ❤️🐴
We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contacted us and offered emergency accommodation for the horses at such short notice. The support was absolutely amazing and very much appreciated.
And an even bigger MASSIVE shout-out to all the firefighters and emergency services who have worked incredibly hard to keep everyone safe. 🚒❤️ We really can’t thank you enough.
We’re already thinking that a sponsored ride in aid of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service after the summer would be a lovely way to say thank you — and something for us all to look forward to! 🐴❤️🚒
🐴 WE ARE OPEN AS USUAL FROM TOMORROW
We will be open as normal from tomorrow onwards, although we will have a few precautions in place for some of our longer rides.
If you are travelling to us, please read the alternative directions below carefully and allow plenty of extra time for your journey.
🚗 A31 CLOSURE
The A31 remains closed in both directions until further notice:
• Westbound: between M27 Junction 2 at Ower and the A338 at Ringwood
• Eastbound: between the A338 at Ringwood and M27 Junction 1 at Cadnam
There is currently no estimated reopening time. Significant repairs are required to the road surface, safety barrier and boundary fencing, which cannot begin until the area has been declared safe.
⚠️ OFFICIAL DIVERSION
National Highways is specifically asking motorists NOT to follow satnav diversions through minor roads.
➡️ Westbound: Leave the M27 at Junction 2 and follow the A326, then the A35 through Ashurst, Lyndhurst and Christchurch, followed by the A3060 and A338 to rejoin the A31 at Ashley Heath.
⬅️ Eastbound: Follow the same route in reverse via the A338, A3060, A35 and A326 before rejoining the M27 at Junction 2.
Please allow substantial extra travelling time, make sure you have enough fuel and carry drinking water and any essential medication during the hot weather.
Please also take extra care on Forest roads, observe local speed limits and watch out for our free-roaming New Forest ponies and livestock. 🐴
Serious congestion and delays are still likely around Lyndhurst, Ringwood, Fordingbridge and the surrounding Forest roads, so please avoid using narrow rural lanes as shortcuts.
🙏 We will update everyone again later this evening.
Thank you so much for everyone’s messages, offers of help and support. It really has meant a lot.
Many thanks,
From everyone here 🐴🐴🐴
