🐾 A Little Scare with Our Sweet Hemmy This Week 💚🐾

This week has been a bit of a rollercoaster in my home. Our beloved cat Hemmy had to take an unexpected trip to the vet after showing some worrying symptoms. The cause? Believe it or not — a single blade of grass lodged in his throat! ☹️

It started with Hemmy coughing, gagging, and making strange throat-clearing sounds. He was just not himself. He had also dropped a lot of weight very quickly, he is an older boy so immediately I was worried.

After a thorough exam, general anaesthetic and a scope at the vet, the culprit was found — a grass blade stuck where it definitely didn’t belong!

✨ A few symptoms to watch out for if your cat might have something stuck in their throat:**

* Persistent coughing or gagging
* Pawing at the mouth
* Difficulty swallowing or loss of appetite
* Strange breathing sounds
* Sudden changes in behavior or vocalizing differently

Thankfully, Hemmy is now recovering well and back to his charming self — but it was a good reminder of how even small things can cause big problems.

If you ever notice any of these signs in your pets, don’t wait — get them checked out. A quick vet visit can make all the difference. 💙

An AQA-accredited certificate in First aid in the care of small animals. You will also have a chance to get plenty of hands-on learning & interaction with a large variety of our domestic and exotic animals.
