Please Help Us Bring Them Home

At Wilfred and Friends, we are urgently trying to raise £2,500 for a thermal drone — because right now, when darkness falls, our ability to search almost disappears with it.

Recently, we were offered a 50% discount on the exact drone we need. It felt like hope. But we couldn’t raise the funds in time, and we lost it.

And last night proved just how desperately we need it.

Our team were out from 2pm yesterday until 4am this morning searching for a missing dog. Fields. Forest. Pitch darkness. Hours of walking, calling, scanning with torches, hoping for movement, listening for the faintest sound.

Somewhere out there was a frightened dog. Cold. Alone. Possibly injured.

We kept going because that’s what we do. But the truth is this:

With a thermal drone, we could have searched that entire area faster.
We could have expanded our range beyond what tired legs can cover.
We could have scanned woodland and long grass in minutes instead of hours.
We could have increased the chances of finding that dog before the night grew colder and the trail grew older.

Instead, we searched the only way we could — step by exhausting step.

Every hour matters in a missing dog search. The longer they are out, the further they travel. The colder they become. The more frightened they get. Families wait at home staring at their phones, praying for news.

A thermal drone means:
• Fewer terrified animals left alone overnight
• Faster recoveries
• Safer searches
• More families reunited

We also support mountain rescue teams who do not have drones and rely on external resources for aerial support. Having our own thermal capability would mean we are ready — immediately — when the call comes.

We lost the discounted drone.

But we haven’t lost our determination.

It is more vital than ever that we raise the £2,500 needed to make this happen. We cannot keep standing in dark forests knowing there is technology that could help us do better — faster — safer.

🚨 Search Update for Lilly – Day 2 🚨

This is our current search grid for Lilly, who was last seen at 9:30am on 26/02/2026 at Mynydd y Cwm.
What3Words location: ///objective.boil.hugs

We are now on Day 2 of searching.

Our team searched until the early hours of this morning — both on and off road.

🔶 Yellow pattern on the map – Every back road, country lane, open pathway, and surrounding fields within this area have been driven and scanned.
🔹 Small blue lines inside the yellow square – These routes have been physically walked by volunteers and local dog walkers.
🔵 Large blue grid – This is today’s expanded search area. We will be driving these routes, spreading the word, sharing Lilly’s photo, and asking residents to check gardens, sheds, outbuildings, and fields.

Lilly is very distinctive and she is friendly. She is wearing a collar with her owner’s contact details.

If you see her, please contact Dave urgently on 07811 680881.

❗ Please do not call or message Dave for updates. He needs to keep the phone line clear in case Lilly is spotted.

If you are local and can help narrow down the larger blue search grid, please look at the map and comment below with the specific areas you have searched so we can avoid duplication and focus our efforts where they are most needed.

Please keep your eyes open — when driving, walking, checking livestock, or out with your own dogs. Even the smallest sighting could bring Lilly home.

Please share. Let’s bring Lilly home. 🐾

Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

🐾 Urgent Rehoming Appeal – Meet Shadow 🐾

Shadow is a 3-year-old unneutered male who is in desperate need of a new, loving home.

He is a very friendly boy with a lovely nature and enjoys the company of dogs. He would suit a home with other dogs or as a single companion where he can receive plenty of attention.

Due to his needs, Shadow cannot be rehomed with young children, so an adult-only or older-children household would be essential.

Shadow deserves stability, patience, and a family who can give him the time and care he needs to thrive.

If you can offer Shadow a safe, permanent home or would like more information, please message Dawn Smart directly. Serious enquiries only — this boy truly deserves the right home. 🐶❤️

*UPDATED. FOUND *

🚨 MISSING CAT – PLEASE HELP FIND OZZY 🚨
Missing since: 12th December
Went missing from: Anwyl Estate, Rhyl

My cat Ozzy has been missing since December 12th from the Anwyl Estate in Rhyl. I adopted him from Second Chance for Cats (Mold) in October, and this was his first time outside. He got spooked when I fell and, instead of coming back indoors, he went over the wall and disappeared.

Since then I’ve:
📍 Leafletted around the estate
📍 Shared on local groups & pages
📍 Had support from Second Chance for Cats
📍 Searched early mornings before daylight
📍 Followed up on every possible sighting

There has been one definite sighting shortly after he disappeared, but no confirmed sightings since. I’m heartbroken and just want him home 💔

🐱 About Ozzy:
• Recently adopted rescue
• Scared & likely hiding
• May avoid people if approached
• Could be sheltering in gardens, sheds, garages, under decking, etc.

📞 If you see him, please contact us directly OR contact Tracy Evison Webzell.
⚠️ Please don’t try to catch or chase him — just send the location, time & a photo if possible.

🙏 PLEASE CHECK:
Sheds • Garages • Greenhouses • Under decking • Outbuildings • Around vehicles

🔍 Any sightings, CCTV, doorbell footage or information could help.
💛 Please share — it could bring Ozzy home.
