Quilliam was no ordinary hedgehog. He wasn’t found rustling in the leaves or hiding under a garden shed—oh no. Quilliam was hand-knitted with the softest brown wool, his spines given to him are the gentlest of prickles. His little nose was stitched with care, and two shiny black beads made his eyes sparkle with curiosity.
Though he was small enough to fit snugly in the palm of a hand, Quilliam had a big heart. He loved to listen to stories, to sit quietly by a windowsill watching the birds outside, and to keep lonely corners company. But despite all this, Quilliam felt something was missing. He didn’t have a home of his own.
“Somewhere out there,” he thought, “is a friend who needs me as much as I need them.”
So Quilliam waited patiently, tucked inside a cozy basket of knitted friends. Every time someone came to peek inside, he would perk up his little woolly nose, hoping they might be his someone.
One day, perhaps soon, a gentle hand will lift him up and carry him away. And then Quilliam will finally find what he’s been searching for: a forever home where he can bring a little extra warmth, comfort, and cheer.
Until then, he waits, a tiny knitted hedgehog with the biggest heart, ready for his next adventure.
