As I often get asked...'when is the best time to scan'? Here's my best answer -
It's not as easy as just saying 28 days although that is generally the best time. Earlier than that say 20-28 days may still produce good scan results but identification of developmental issues, heartbeats and numbers is more difficult. After 28 days, it is more likely to get a good clear scan showing heart beats, size comparison and more accurate number counts (always an educated guess from the scan and my experience). Once we get into the last couple of weeks, imaging accuracy can be lost due to size, movement and space. So, week 4-5 is ideal and even better if the tummy area is clear of hair, especially long thick hair. They will lose most of it anyway prior to delivery so it's better for the scan to clip and/or shave the area 1st. Only do this if you're confident and it won't stress her out. I hope that helps in your scan decision making process. Remember,
I COME TO YOU!
