We are Darren and Kim - The Cheshire Cat pet sitters, a service dedicated to providing the very best care for your cats while you're away from home.

We offer peace of mind by visiting your cat in their own home. Covering Stockport and surrounding areas. We are Darren and Kim. We established The Cheshire Cat Pet sitting Service because we simply love cats! The idea to start our own cat sitting service came after struggling to find the pet sitting service that was right for us within our local area. With over 30 years' experience caring for cats

, all strays with difficult backgrounds, we understand that every cat has different needs and requires different levels of care. We currently have 3 cats - Polly, Milly and Jarvis. All are now senior cats and Polly, who is 18, is currently be treated for hyperthyroidism. Our lives revolve around these three cheeky cats. Darren has previously worked at Animals in Distress animal sanctuary for a number of years, where he gained valuable experience caring for cats of all temperaments, as well as dogs and other small animals. Darren is passionate about the environment and the natural world and he's a keen ornithologist. Kim grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters and goldfish and has, like Darren, had a lifelong love of animals. She was lucky enough to live in Tanzania for three years, where she had the opportunity to see big cats and other large animals in the wild. She's happy now to be settled back in Stockport with three slightly smaller cats!

Meet brothers Damon and Stefan.

They are both so young and full of life and they have adapted well to having us care for them. Damon (white chest) was the bolder of the two at first, but Stefan is now in a good place with us. It didn't take him long in fairness and seeing how Damon was with us will have reassured him that it was going to be ok.

They both love to play, but things never get too crazy with Damon and Stefan. They will play together, but they will wait patiently for their turn and playtime is always so orderly. There is never any falling out and there's no jealousy or fear of missing out. For such a young age they are remarkably mature.

As with many cats their age, everything is fun and interesting. They are currently indoor cats, but they will soon be able to explore the world outside. This is when they'll need each other more than ever because for such an adventure, you're going to need your brother by your side. I think these guys are going to be just fine. They will look after each other.

Twins Cusco and Lima are cats that we've been caring for for quite some time. They have recently moved house and they have both adapted well to their new surroundings.

Cusco (red/silver collar) and Lima are such sweet cats and while their home and territories might have changed, their personalities have not. It has felt that we've mostly cared for them during the winter months when it's cold and dark, but this summer we've had the pleasure of spending the warm summer days with them in their new garden, playing on the grass and watching them chase butterflies and insects.

Cusco is so very confident and he's always the first to greet us. He's so affectionate and loving and he's involved in everything we do. Lima is a sweet girl and although she's not quite as crazy as her brother, she certainly has her moments. They have such different personalities, but they love each other so much. They are inseparable.

We will most definitely be seeing them again soon!

Meet Benji!!

Bengi is a special little fella. He's the happiest and most fun little guy and he's guaranteed to put a smile on your face and keep you smiling for the rest of the day.

Benji is super playful and non stop, but he's gentle, affectionate and so loving. He is also the best at playing hide and seek. He doesn't hide though, he only seeks!

Benji's mum takes him out on his harness and he goes for adventures in local parks and green spaces and he has built up quite the following on social media. You mat have seen him already!!

We absolutely loved caring for him and we simply cannot wait to see him again.

This is Gingey. He's a quiet boy and slow to trust new people, but we managed to earn his trust and he soon settled and thoroughly enjoyed his vists.

He lives with his sister Tachee, but she is very shy and we had very little contact with her during the time when we were visiting. She did improve with each day, but mostly we allowed her to be by herself. We will continue to reach out to her on future visits.

Gingey and Tachee would normally be going outside into the garden, but they had to remain inside for our visits. Gingey really missed his time outdoors at first, but we managed to distract him with play and lots of fuss and he accepted the situation and made the most of each visit with us.

Gingey is such a sweet boy. He is so loving and affectionate and there is nothing better than winning the trust of a cat, especially a cat that finds it hard to relax with new people. We made a few trips to see them both before the visits started to help things along and Gingely most definately benefitted from that. It often helps if we pay certain cats a visit shortly before we arrive on our own. It's less intimidating for them and we are still fresh in there memories when their actual visits begin.

It was an enjoyable experience looking after them both, despite Tachee feeling uncomfortable with the situation. We very much hope to see them both again soon.

We have cared for British Shorthair Louis on several occasions now and every visit with this lad has given us so many genuine laugh out loud moments.

Louis is ever so playful and he just loves his cat tunnel. After his usual enthusiastic welcome and lots of rolling about on the floor, he heads to his tunnel, climbs inside and waits for the action to begin. It's not unusual for the cats we care for to soon get used the things we do with them, and they then expect that we'll do certain things when we're with them. Louis has us firmly under his paw.

There is one thing that Louis does for which there is no explanation. At the end of each visit when we are wrapping up and writing our update, Louis rolls over onto his back with his legs in the air and lies motionless. Is it a protest because he knows we're about to leave? Is it a ploy to keep us there even longer? Well whatever his motive might be, he looks so cute, it often delays our exit and so it works!!

Louis is gentle and so well behaved and with his many little quirks, he is a pleasure to care for.

This dashing young fella is Fen!

We were asked to care for him recently for the first time and when we met him for the first time at his meet and greet, it was evident that we going to have a good time while his family were away.

Fen settled well and took no time at all to adjust to our visits. He's a quiet boy, but with each passing day he became quite chatty and he is such good company. He loves his food and was very keen to be fed. After his meal he would follow me about, partly being nosy, but mostly just to keep an eye on me.

It was during a very hot spell of weather when we visited Fen and there was a lot of inactivity. He would occasionally disappear next door for a mini adventure before returning when he heard the sound of a dreamie packet. Our time was mostly spent looking for shade and relaxing, and Fen grew more and more affectionate towards me with each visit.

It was such a pleasure to spend time with him and we are very much looking forward to seeing him again soon.

This is Winnie and she's an older girl and very new to The Cheshire Cat

Winnie has little or no sight, but this doesn't prevent her from living a full and enjoyable life. She is able to navigate her way around the house and the garden where she is safe. Her other senses will be heightened to compensate for her poor/non existent vision and she will rely on them to help her to safely go about her business. Her sight has only recently deteriorated and she will be able to rely on memory regarding where things are and what obstacles exist in her home and garden.

It was a tricky week to care for her due to the extreme heat, but we kept her cool by keeping her in the shade and keeping her fur wet with a damp cloth. She loves the sunshine and so that wasn't always possible, but at the end of each visit we brought her in where she remained cool and safe.

She's a special little cat and we have both become very fond of her.

Zelda is a British Shorthair and we had the absolute pleasure of caring for her for the first time recently.

She is confident and playful and the decision to take a cat tunnel on her visits was an absolute game changer. As soon as we arrived, she was straight in there and that was how we rolled for the entirety of most every visit. She was ever so slightly obsessed with it, but it made her very happy. So much so that we left it with her as a gift. It would have felt so wrong not to have done.

It's true that she was a little shy at first, but that didn't last long and Zelda most definitely made the most of every visit. She's cheeky and mischievous and yet so gentle and sweet. She's also very funny indeed.

She's quite small and petite for a British Shorthair, but the best things come in small packages they say!!

We are very much looking forward to the next time we're called upon to care for her.

This is our little man Jarvis

It's fair to say that over the last two years, Jarvis has had more than his fair share of health issues.

He survived a cancerous tumor, he developed glaucoma which led to the loss of an eye and he broke a canine in his lower jaw that led to dental work. Three operations that caused us a lot of worry due to his heart murmur.

Despite everything, he remains the happiest cat in the world. The sadness and despair that we've been through with him has only made us love him even more. He is so precious and although he won't have understood the reason for the countless times we've taken him to the vets to be prodded and poked, we think he appreciates no longer feeling pain and discomfort. He must know that everything we do is in his best interest.

We think he is approximately 16 years old, but Jarvis is active and super playful and so loving. We just hope that he can have a long period of good health because he deserves to be happy.

This is Diego and Dora

We have cared for Diego (black) and Dora on a few occasions and on a recent set of visits we had a real breakthrough.

It's fair to say that on previous visits, Diego and Dora were both incredibly shy and all we really had were brief glimpses as they would either hide or make themselves scarce. With shy cats, we always play the long game and our patience has finally paid off.

Diego is the bolder of the two, but they have both been present and close during recent visits and they have both played and taken treats from our hands, and allowed us to stroke them.

Some cats need a little time to understand that we pose no threat and that we're there to help them, and we feel that we have arrived with Diego and Dora. There is still work to be done, but there is a definite feeling that they not only trust us, but enjoy us being there and that is a wonderful feeling.

We very much hope that the next time we see them, further progress can and will be made.
