The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitter

The Cheshire Cat Pet Sitter We are Darren and Kim - The Cheshire Cat pet sitters, a service dedicated to providing the very best care for your cats while you're away from home.

We offer peace of mind by visiting your cat in their own home. Covering Stockport and surrounding areas. We are Darren and Kim. We established The Cheshire Cat Pet sitting Service because we simply love cats! The idea to start our own cat sitting service came after struggling to find the pet sitting service that was right for us within our local area. With over 30 years' experience caring for cats

, all strays with difficult backgrounds, we understand that every cat has different needs and requires different levels of care. We currently have 3 cats - Polly, Milly and Jarvis. All are now senior cats and Polly, who is 18, is currently be treated for hyperthyroidism. Our lives revolve around these three cheeky cats. Darren has previously worked at Animals in Distress animal sanctuary for a number of years, where he gained valuable experience caring for cats of all temperaments, as well as dogs and other small animals. Darren is passionate about the environment and the natural world and he's a keen ornithologist. Kim grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters and goldfish and has, like Darren, had a lifelong love of animals. She was lucky enough to live in Tanzania for three years, where she had the opportunity to see big cats and other large animals in the wild. She's happy now to be settled back in Stockport with three slightly smaller cats!

Let us introduce you once again to Geoff and his new little sister Dolly!

Geoff (ginger) is a regular with The Cheshire Cat and he now has Dolly to share his home and life with. They live together in almost perfect harmony!

This is the first time we have cared for Dolly and it's another example of how Kim and myself working together works best for the cats. Dolly and Geoff are both playful, but they like different things and play at different speeds (possibly the understatement of the year) and so we split our time between them giving them one to one time to enable them to get the most out of every visit!!

Dolly will chase a wand toy with feathers on the end around all day long while Geoff is quite content with a piece of string and a small pinch of catnip. Despite keeping them occupied separately during visits, they do interact well and we know that when we're not there, they are close and will snuggle up together.

We are very much looking forward to seeing them again soon!!

Update: Merlin has now been reunited with his owner. 😊😻

We have found a cat and it's currently in our house. The cat is a Siamese, in good health and extremely friendly.

I caught her and brought her home after watching her almost get hit by a couple of cars. The cat, which I think is a female, has no road sense at all. I took her to the vet and she isn't chipped and she has no other form of ID. Does anyone recognise her? I figure she's an indoor cat that has somehow escaped. She was found in reddish where we live.

Meet Biggy and Fluffy!

We were recently lucky enough to be asked to care for these two boys.

Biggy (tabby and white) was friendly from the beginning, always coming to say hello when we arrived and enjoying lots of strokes and tickles. He was playful too, enjoying playing with string and with the little catnip mouse we brought him. However, he wasn't shy in letting you know when he'd had enough - he'd just walk away! But he'd soon come back for more!

Fluffy (the fluffy one!) was shy at first, retreating to the top of the stairs to check us out. After a few visits though, he came to say hello, and was soon bumping our hands for tickles and rolling about on the floor! Fluffy too was playful and wanted to get involved in whatever Biggy was up to.

We really enjoyed our time with these two, and hope to see them again soon. 😺😺

Allow me to introduce you to Rocky and the Greeks!! These boys are Cheshire Cat first timers and we've had so much fun with them.

Rocky the Siamese, Donald and Bramberry live together in perfect harmony and they are such a delight to care for. Donald and Bramberry were rescued and brought to the UK from Santorini, a process that takes time and required a lot of patience and hard work, but they are now living their best life with Rocky.

Bramberry (shorter hair) and Donald were a little unsure when we first met them at the meet and greet, but when we arrived for the first visit, we were blown away by the most enthusiastic of welcomes. We were mobbed by all three boys and from that moment on we had a riot!!

Rocky is a quiet lad and his preference will always be to be on a knee on his heated blanket, but there was no time for that. He was too intrigued by having two new visitors and was keen to get involved and did. We brought some super cool toys with us and the boys were up for pretty much up for anything. There is never a dull moment with Rocky and the Greeks!!!!!

Aside from all the fun, these boys are so affectionate, loving and gentle and we left each sit smiling and excited for the next visit. They provided us with so many genuine laugh out loud moments and we're very lucky to have been chosen to care for them.

We can't wait to see them again!!!

Say hello to Rupert! This handsome young Siberian is quite new to The Cheshire Cat and he is such a delight to care for, and so much fun! Rupert is growing fast and each time we see him there's a little more to love.

Rupert is pretty much game for anything, especially if it involves his cat tree. He likes to climb to the very top and have things thrown for him to catch. He also loves to play on the stairs with his cotton mice and he's very good at hide and seek although he's better at seeking than hiding.

Rupert is loving and gentle and loves to be picked up and given a big squeeze, and he's always quick to greet us when we visit. He's such good company and we're so grateful for the opportunity to be his sitters!

We'll see you again soon little man!

Oliver and Binkie are new to the Cheshire Cat and we have recently visited and cared for them for the first time.

Binkie (black and white) is the sweetest little cat and always came running over for a whole load of tickles. She rarely stayed still, bumping her head against our hands for fusses, climbing on our knees and rolling about on the floor. She is one of few cats who has allowed us to tickle her belly so early on in our relationship! She also reminds us of our own cat Milly, so she won a place in our hearts straight away. 😻

Oliver is a super cool cat. He was always there to greet us and soak up the attention. He was also keen to ensure we served him up his breakfast on time! He is a gentle, handsome boy, who would play occasionally, but would rather have a tickle... or a Dreamie!

This is Polly and today is her unofficial 20th birthday!! I figured she was about 6 months old when she found me in March of 2006 and so I have always considered October 1st as her birthday.

Now if you've used our service recently, you will likely be aware of a health emergency we've had with Polly. On the 20th of September, in the early hours, Polly was rushed to an emergency vet after having what we understand to have been a stroke. To cut a long story short, she has now made a miraculous recovery, but we have had to give her 24 hour care. One or both of us have been with her at all times for a whole ten days. Her ability to walk was at first severely compromised and we've had to carry her up and down stairs and on and off the sofa. We have even had to lift her out of her litter tray. We both thought we were going to lose her and it has been one of the most traumatic experiences we've known.

Fast forward to today and it would appear that she has made a near full recovery. Yesterday, for the first time since her stroke, we have both felt confident enough to leave her unattended for an hour. The biggest issue she had was the inability to get downstairs safely. Having watched her closely and observed her, she now has the ability to do this and we feel their is now little or no risk.

Polly has hyperthyroidism and recent blood results have shown that her kidney function is in decline. There is little we can do prevent that, but blood pressure medication should help to prevent another stroke in the future. As an older cat, we have her bloods taken every 2 months to get an accurate picture of her health so that we can better mange a variety of issues that are unavoidable for a cat her age.

Polly is so special to us. We both love her dearly and she has brought us so much joy, and we hope that she will continue to do for the foreseeable future. We understand how delicate she is and how precarious her health situation is, but she's a survivor.

Happy birthday Polly Pops!

We returned recently to care for Tabby and Luna. It feels like forever ago since we last saw them, but they certainly remembered us.

Tabby and Luna are such busy little cats and they're every bit as much fun as we remembered. Perhaps a little more so. We always thought of Luna as the more confident and playful of the two, and Tabby the more reserved and shy. This is no longer the case. They are both such good fun to be with and there is never a dull moment with them.

We're very much hoping that we won't have to wait so long before we see them again! They're a couple of little gems!

We have recently revisited Oliver, Lilly and Benji along with bunnies Waffles and Tofu.

This is most definitely an occasion when the phrase 'two are better one' could not be more apt and we will always team up, as and when we can when there are multiple fluffy beings to care for. So many different characters!

Oliver (tabby) is a damn fine looking fella and the most friendly and confident of cats. He's so mischievous and always fascinated by what we're doing. He's interested in everything we do and he's always getting into trouble. Good trouble that is! Oliver is another cat that loves his cat tunnel and he's also partial to chasing rabbits Waffles and Tofu. All in good fun!!

Lilly (black) is a little old girl and she has a new cat wall to climb up. It's a safe place for her to be when the feline tornado that is Oliver is in play mode! When all is quiet, she will come down for a treat or to sit on our knees. She's such a sweet little girl. So gentle and affectionate.

Benji (not pictured) is a shy little boy, but this time round he has softened a little. We gave him all the time and space that he needs and one day he will feel confident enough to join in.

Waffles and Tofu are a funny pair. Waffles (dark grey) will actively seek our attention while Tofu is more reserved. They live in complete harmony with their feline friends and while they might not always appreciate being chased by Oliver, I think they might secretly enjoy it!! Watching them munch on a blueberry is the cutest thing ever!!

It has been a delight to see them all again and we're very much looking forward to seeing them all again the soon!

More cheeky new faces for The Cheshire Cat. Meet Poe, Pixie and Luna!!

When we first met Poe, Pixie and Luna at the meet and greet it was wasn't so easy for Pixie (black) and Luna (white) and they both hid. They also hid when we collected the key, shortly before the first visit.

Poe instantly warmed to us and he's a very confident little cat and so playful and curious. Poe feeling so at ease with us soon rubbed off on Pixie and she found the courage to get involved and on day two, Luna came out of hiding and from them on we had an absolute ball. With each passing day, Luna and Pixie grew more and more confident and they both, along with Poe made the very most of their visits.

Poe, Pixie and Luna live quite local to us and it's become apparent that our cat Jarvis has been hanging out with Poe. Jarvis has been regularly visiting. I'm not sure what they're up to, probably just gossiping!

We had the best time with these guys and hopefully we'll have the opportunity to care for them again soon!!!

Wolfie is a Cheshire Cat newbie and we've had a wonderful first time caring for him!

Some cats take time getting used to having someone, who is still a relative stranger, walk into the home and garden and into their life. It's perfectly understandable that they might feel apprehensive at first and will often need time to figure things out.

I think it's fair to say that Wolfie trusted us from the very fist time we visited him alone. We had met him days earlier and so he was already familiar with us, but we had such a fantastic time with him. He's such an affectionate lad and so playful, and really good company.

We are very much hoping that Wolfie might hire us again in future!!
