Veterinary Care Over the Bank
Holiday
Nobody wants to come to the vet over the bank holidays, but what
happens if your pet is poorly or hurts themselves? Are your
veterinary team not at home enjoying their time off too?
All veterinary practices in the UK have a legal obligation to provide
round-the-clock care for their patients. While some practices do
this themselves, such as having a vet on-call, most provide this 24-
hour care by agreement with a designated Out of Hours veterinary
clinic for while they are closed.

Chocotox
Did you know that chocolate is poisonous to dogs and
cats? With Easter coming up, we’re creating
awareness around chocolate toxicity in pets.
Accidents do happen and these are the signs to keep
an eye out for if your pet has chocolate toxicity:
The poison itself takes between 4 and 24 hours to
cause signs which include:
Muscle stiffness
Tremors
Vomiting
Heart arrhythmias and fitting.
If your pet has eaten chocolate, we would
recommend giving us a call immediately for advice

Spring is finally here. The weather is
getting milder, we get two bank holidays
in a row and over Easter it’s socially
acceptable to eat chocolate for every
meal!
While pets may enjoy our lift in spirits and
desire to get out in the fresh air, spring
can also bring some hazards. Read on to
make sure your pet has their best (and
safest) springtime yet:

❗️CHRISTMAS FOOD DANGERS❗️

Over-indulgence is commonplace over the holidays, and while we can decide whether we really need a bit more cake, our pets will often accept whatever’s on offer.

However, some foods we have around at Christmas pose significantly more danger than an upset stomach; so it’s important to keep them out of paws reach!

🌺Remembrance Day🌺
Monday 11th November

The 11th November is a day dedicated to honoring military personnel who lost their lives in service to their country. The date commemorates the armistice signed at the end of World War Ion November 11, 1918.

Wearing a poppy is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families. It represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day.

❗️National Stress Awareness Day❗️

Wednesday 6th November marks National Stress Awareness Day, which seeks
to raise awareness of the negative effects that stress can have on our health.
While stress can sometimes serve as a helpful motivator, too much of it can
negatively impact our mood, body, and mind.
This is where our pets play an important role: they can greatly help reduce
stress and boost mental well-being. Interacting with pets has a soothing effect
on the body, helping to lower blood pressure, ease anxiety, and increase
feelings of social support.
Petting or cuddling animals can release oxytocin, a hormone that promotes
relaxation and bonding, while also lowering cortisol levels, which are linked to
stress.
Feeling stressed? Take a few extra moments today to cuddle your pet and ease
those feelings of tension.
