🐾 Why Delaying Your Dog’s Grooming in Winter Isn’t as Cozy as It Sounds! ❄️🐶
As the weather gets colder, many owners think skipping or stretching out grooming appointments will help keep their dogs “warmer.” I totally understand the thought — but here’s why regular grooming is even more important during winter months:
✨ 1. Longer coat doesn’t mean warmer coat
When hair becomes overgrown, tangled or matted, it actually traps moisture and cold against the skin. A well-maintained coat insulates properly — a matted coat does the opposite!
✨ 2. Mats get worse in winter
Rain, mud, damp walks and cosy jumpers all contribute to tangles. If we leave it too long, those small knots turn into painful mats that can only be removed by clipping short.
✨ 3. Skin issues love winter
Dry skin, dandruff and irritation are more common when the coat isn’t brushed or bathed regularly. Grooming helps keep skin healthy and comfortable.
✨ 4. Hygiene doesn’t pause for winter
Snow, salt, grit and dirt build up in paws, feathers and undercarriages. Regular grooming keeps dogs clean, comfortable and safe.
✨ 5. It reduces the chance of a drastic shave
Keeping a steady grooming schedule means we can maintain your dog’s style, avoid painful de-matting, and prevent the need for a short clip later.
🐾💛 A well-groomed coat = a warm, comfortable, happy dog — in every season! 😊👍🐾
