All of us at Waterfarm were deeply saddened to hear of Anthony’s passing. Sylvias tribute is incredibly moving, and it reflects the depth of love, humour and companionship that shaped his life. It’s clear how profoundly he touched the people around him, and how much devotion surrounded him in his final years.

As students of Sylvia Loch, we recognise the extraordinary influence she has had on so many of us — and it’s clear that Anthony shared that same spirit of generosity, curiosity and quiet wisdom. His creativity, his storytelling, and his joy in the world were gifts he shared freely, and we are grateful for the inspiration he offered to those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our thoughts are with Sylvia and with everyone who loved Anthony. May the memories of his warmth, his laughter, and the life you built together bring comfort in the days ahead. His legacy — in his work, his humour, and the hearts he touched — will be remembered with deep affection.

Hello everyone,
It’s been a long time since anything was posted here, and life has changed in more ways than I ever expected. Waterfarm feels like a lifetime ago now — a chapter that ended far too painfully and suddenly, and one I’ve carried quietly with me ever since. That chapter meant so much, to me and to many of you.

Many of you knew Nancy, loved her, fed her treats, laughed at her mischief, and watched her grow. She was such a bright part of that place, and of my life. Losing the farm meant losing so much, and for a long time I didn’t have the heart to come back to this page.

But over the past couple of years, something gentle has been happening. I’ve been writing and illustrating stories — and Nancy is the star. Each story is rooted in a little truth from her real-life antics, shaped into a storybook character who carries her spirit, her curiosity, and her kindness.

I wanted to share this here first, because this community knew her best.
If you’d like to see what she’s become, or follow along as her stories grow, you’re warmly welcome. I’ve published the first Nancy McFancy Pants book — a small way of keeping her light alive.

You can find it on Amazon if you search for Christine Warner.

And if you simply want to remember her as she was at Waterfarm, that’s perfectly okay too.

Thank you for being part of her life — and mine.
Christine

From practicing pirouettes in secret to stepping proudly into the big arena, Nancy’s journey is filled with courage, determination, and the magic of believing in yourself. With friends cheering and a judge watching closely, her grand gallop becomes an unforgettable celebration of spirit and joy. ....

We at waterfarm are heart broken to inform you all, that on the 15th October 2023 we trotted down center line for the final time.

After 16 years of running a successfull and flourishing business we have been forced to make the awful decision to close our doors, and Water Farm Dressage Centre as you have come to know and love it, has ceased to exist.

We are so deeply saddened, but the decision was taken out of our control by our landlords and after lenghty discussions with our staff, liveries and supporters we decided with much tears that could not continue to run Water Farm in the way that made us special and you had become accustomed to. We feel we have let you all down as you have lost yet another competition venue, one we strived to make welcoming and supportive for all who crossed our threshold.
We wanted to create an inclusive and supportive club run by riders, for riders who all understand the unsteady journey of horse ownership, of all levels, ideals and abilities from lead rein to PSG.

Waterfarm is a family, and we have always considered you all as such. Some of our friendships span over a decade and we are destroyed to have lost these bonds, the beautiful venue and the amazing community we have forged, with loyalty and fondness, both locally and internationally.

Looking back at what we have lost is bitter sweet, over the years we have celebrated with so many of you, not just horsey achievements but engagements, weddings, championships, births and deaths.

It hasnt always been easy, but on the whole it has been a wondrous 16 year journey for us to have shared with you our knowledge and classical ethos.
We would also like to thank you all for allowing us to join you on your journey and though we are not at waterfarm we would love to continue to be a part of your endeavours.

So it is with a heavy heart we say...

G, Halt, immobility, and a salute to you all. X

Ring craft clinic today.
Having a judge and instructor combine to help you gain easy marks really gives the rider an intense crash course to achieve better results. Well done to all.

From the sublime to the ridiculous.
Recovering from the torrential rain last night by relaxing in the garden in 20 degree heat.
Our competitors were amazingly stoic and braved the rain. They were all fantastic and smiles all round with some pb's thrown in. Thank you all for coming out in such bad weather, you are brilliant.

This weather is getting ridiculous. Feels like we are in WINTER already!!!

On Tuesday we held our evening dressage. Always a delightful event. Unaffiliated and grass roots to just enjoy and have a go. We also welcome para riders as we have and BD para judge, Lotte. We also have lots of first timers and new combinations. Lots of people come to support the riders and it becomes a fabulous atmosphere.
