So what's your favourite ride from Street Farm? Post a photo in the comments if you have any between the ears shots!
This is one of mine - riding The Clouds. Even the name makes me feel inspired!
This first photo is taken by one of my current guests, a group of Scottish endurance riders, who have now been to Street Farm 7 times!!! They did the Clouds ride on their first day here because it is a good leg stretch after a journey.
The Clouds is a rocky outcrop on the flank of Wild Boar Fell, with limestone crags and pavements. It is a fascinating geological environment, with a history of small-scale farming and mining for minerals and lead and the opportunity to spot birds, small mammals and wild ponies. The ride takes about an hour, and gives fantastic views, not only looking down to Street Farm, but also down the valley to Cautley and Sedbergh, and across the Howgills to the Lake district on a sunny day.
We have lots of other routes ready for you to try, many of which are already in map cases and include talkarounds for those of you unconfident with map-reading, but I can also send the gpx file of the routes directly to those with the OS map app.
Come and stay, and discover your favourite routes!!

Karen and I have been back out on a route checking/ fact finding mission today, after reports of a bridleway being blocked by the turnout of horses including a stallion!
Fantastic 6 mile route with lots of canters, and a diversion to avoid the small section of bridleway that is affected.
We had a variety of weather - beautiful sunshine, then squally showers with a bitter wind, but the one thing I have found about living here is that you just need the right clothing!! Thermal jods, wool layers under my jacket, and my waterproof riding skirt tied onto my saddle, and I was sorted!!

It really got me thinking this morning, when I rode my lovely mare Marilyn, and realised that it was her birthday - do you celebrate your horses birthday?
Marilyn is 11 today! I bred her myself, and it is her who travelled with me from John o'groats to Lands End 4 years ago, so we have been through a lot together!
I felt a bit guilty just riding her this morning without any special treatment and it got me thinking - what do others do?
So go on, comment below and let me know how you celebrate your horses birthday!!!!

So, did you know how Steve and I ended up moving from the South coast to Street Farm??
Well, four years ago today, my horse Marilyn and I set out from John o'groats to ride/walk to Lands End. It was a life-changing trip that took 3 months and was 1300 miles!
Half-way down the country I stayed at this beautiful farm near Ravenstonedale. Stunning views, a pub I could walk to for dinner, luxury cottage for me, and a beautiful grassy paddock for my horse. It was the perfect rest stop, and I was reminded how much I loved the big fells and quiet lanes of this area.
When I got home (having already sold my business), I realised that Street Farm might be up for sale. Luckily the previous owners thought we would be a good fit for here, and my husband agreed that this could be a new direction for us!
A year later we moved in and have loved welcoming people to enjoy our fabulous home and area as much as we do! We strive to make it a home from home, but with all the peace and respite we all need from our busy lives.
If you would like to sample this wonderful place for yourselves then send me a message, or see the link to our booking page in the comments below!

Do you love spending quality time riding out in stunning countryside with your horse? Is your ideal break getting away with friends and family to explore the fells on your horses, while also staying in luxury accommodation where you can relax, away from the stresses of work and home?
Street Farm Cottages offer an attractive base for getting away with your best four-legged friend to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are five adjoining properties which can sleep between 2 and 14 guests. The main Farmhouse is the largest if you are a big group, but the other cottages are by no means a come-down for a smaller number.
Each property offers a unique blend of flagged floors, exposed stone walls and oak trusses combined with power showers, contemporary interiors and crisp white linen. All the mod cons you need with plenty of character thrown in.

🛏️ A variety of accommodation options ranging from twin ensuites, to Kingsize rooms for couples.
🐿️ Plenty of outdoor space where you can sit and drink an evening wine, while looking at the stunning views, including your horses grazing in the paddocks around the houses.
🐕‍🦺 Also dog friendly with fabulous dog-walking straight from the gate.
🚘 Large parking areas for your lorries and trailers.
🎱 Games room with Pool, Darts, Arcade games, selection of board games and books for those occasional rainy days!!
🍺 Fabulous local friendly pubs within walking or riding distance, all serving excellent food so you don't have to! One of them even has tie-rings outside next to the tables so you can share lunch with your equine friends!
🐴 Your horses are also well cared for, with fabulous individual grassy paddocks and stables. We have a 20x40 sand and rubber arena which is free for our guests to use and lessons can be arranged.
🔑 There is a large lockable tack room, wash down areas and even a heated drying room for rugs or wet-weather gear.

Have you ridden the fells of Asby and Crosby Garrett? It is a lovely all-day ride from Street Farm, but there are 3 pubs to stop at on the way back (and the way there if you fancy!!!).
As you can see there are some great canter tracks and stunning scenery.
Bring your horse on a mini-break and I can send you out with route instructions. Bookings being taken for summer/autumn 2026 (don't delay because the dates are booking up!).
Park and ride also available at any time of year - personalised routes given along with use of kitchen/loo/wash down included in the parking fee of £10 per vehicle.
