Late on a Saturday night, handsome German Shepherd Qubah was rushed into our emergency service in a critical condition. He was diagnosed with gastric torsion (GDV), a life-threatening emergency that had also caused a secondary splenic torsion.

Qubah underwent a highly complex emergency surgery performed by Vet Emilia with the assistance of Vet Yoni. The procedure involved untwisting the stomach, performing a splenectomy, and a gastropexy to help prevent this devastating condition from happening again in the future.

Our team worked tirelessly around the clock to give Qubah the very best chance of recovery. A special mention also goes to our wonderful young Veterinary Nurse Aimee, whose amazing nursing skills and dedication played a huge part in Qubah’s recovery and ongoing care. 💙

Thanks to the quick response, advanced surgical care, and the incredible teamwork of our staff, Qubah made a fantastic recovery and has now officially been signed off.
We are so proud of this brave boy and grateful to have been part of his journey back to health.

Please remember — GDV is a true emergency. If your dog shows signs such as a swollen abdomen, retching, restlessness, or collapse, seek veterinary attention immediately.

Sweet Maine C**n Suki gave us all quite a scare recently 🐈

After suffering with severe sickness and diarrhoea, Suki’s condition quickly became much more serious. She developed an intestinal intussusception — a painful and life-threatening condition where part of the intestine becomes trapped inside itself.

Suki was rushed to emergency surgery to save her. Sadly, a significant section of damaged intestine had to be removed before the two healthy ends could be carefully stitched back together.

Suki was monitored and cared for around the clock by our dedicated team during her recovery, and we are so happy to say she made a full recovery 🩺✨

Nothing makes us smile more than seeing our patients back to enjoying life — especially when we received a lovely email from Suki’s owner along with these beautiful photos of her relaxing at home ☀️🐾

Well done, brave girl ❤️

Sweet Milo came in recently for his castration… and completely stole the show 🐾✨

From the moment he arrived, he was calm, curious, and honestly—an absolute natural in front of the camera. We’re pretty sure he missed his calling as a model! 📸💙

Milo did brilliantly throughout his procedure and recovery, and we’re so proud of how well he handled his big day. Now he’s back home, enjoying lots of well-deserved cuddles (and probably practicing his poses in the mirror 😉).

Well done, Milo—you were a star from start to finish 🌟

📢 🇪🇺 Important Update:
Pet Travel Rules to the EU (From 22 April 2026)

The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) has issued communication on 17 April 2026 outlining important changes for anyone travelling from Great Britain (GB) to the EU with dogs, cats, or ferrets.

🐾 What’s changing?
From Wednesday 22 April 2026, new EU rules will apply for non-commercial pet travel from GB to the EU.

No changes to pet entry requirements into Great Britain.

Two very special visitors stole our hearts 💙

Meet Rumour & Dylan — two adorable bulldogs who travelled all the way from London to visit our Kennel Club Approved RFGS Assessor, Emilia.
After their assessments, they went on to have BOAS surgery with us… and what a transformation we’ve seen already!

These two have been absolute stars throughout their journey. From brave check-ins to waggy recoveries, they’ve handled everything with such sweet personalities (and plenty of cuddles along the way 🐾).

The biggest win? Their breathing has improved massively. It’s always incredible to see the difference BOAS surgery can make — and now Rumour & Dylan can enjoy a more active, comfortable life doing all the things they love.

Seeing patients not just recover, but truly thrive, is why we do what we do 💙

Wishing these two lovely bulldogs many happy, energetic adventures ahead!

‼️DECEASED CAT‼️

We are saddened to share that a deceased young cat was found this morning on Woodchurch Road, by the metal gate of the solar farm.

The cat is described as a young, intact male with ginger fur and white markings. Sadly, he is not microchipped, so we have been unable to identify his owner.

If you believe this may be your cat, please contact our practice as soon as possible so we can provide further information.

Please also consider sharing this post to help us reach a wider community.
Our thoughts are with his owner during this difficult time. 🐾
