A wonderful inspiring retreat at the Riding Centre last Sunday, guided by Gen Kelsang Päljin - a Buddhist Monk and close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, who has studied and practised Kadampa Buddhism for over 27 years. Thank you to all that came . Hope to run more retreats in the future . Watch this space. 🙏
Gen Kelsang Päljin is the resident teacher at Burnley Kadampa Buddhist Centre which runs many drop in meditation sessions . All welcome.
Thank you to Lymm & District Round Table for your generous donation ⭐🙏.
The Riding Centre has bought new riding hats to the delight of our riders. All our hats meet the latest safety standards. However, we constantly need to replace hats with new ones to maintain effectiveness. Thank you so much .

Last week's celebrations of Debra Batchelor's Investiture at the Manchester Monastery.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Mrs Diane Hawkins JP LLB, presented Debra with her British Empire Medal, an honour awarded by His Majesty The King for her work as a volunteer and trustee for the Margaret Haes Riding Centre.
A very special ceremony shared with family and friends including one of the riders from the Riding Centre. The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Noel Bayley, was also present to congratulate Debra on her BEM .
The citations for BEM recipients from Greater Manchester were truly inspirational . A very proud and humbling moment.

🙏🌈 Still time to book the Meditation Retreat this Sunday at the Riding Centre 9 am to 1pm !🌈🙏
Feeling overwhelmed in a world that won't slow down?
You are warmly invited to slow down and discover inner peace with guided meditations with Gen Kelsang Päljin - a Buddhist Monk and close disciple of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, who has studied and practised Kadampa Buddhism for over 27 years. No previous experience necessary. All welcome.
Buddhist teachings offer practical methods to find peace and happiness going back some 2,600 years and just as meaningful today, if not more so.
After the retreat there is the option to join a short guided walk to Peel Tower and enjoy the spectacular moors and views.
Hot drinks are available in the community room during the retreat. If you would like to stay on for the walk please bring a packed lunch.
The cost of the retreat is £20 (Burnley Kadampa Buddhist Centre Membership Scheme £15).
Recommend parking is on the main road in the historic village of Holcombe and its then a short walk up to the Riding Centre or if you need help, there is parking on site. Car sharing is encouraged where possible.
Happy Birthday to Pierce. King of the muck heap 🤣 Obviously he had to have a horse poo cake. Hope you had a fabulous day 😍

The Margaret Haes Riding Centre was founded by Margaret Haes in 1967. She soon affiliated her new riding centre to the Riding for the Disabled Association. She was an accomplished horsewoman, and passionate about sharing her love of riding with those less fortunate.
In approximately 1976 she and her team joined NWRAH, the North West Riding Association for the Handicapped. In 2004, in recognition of Peggy’s hard work and dedication, the centre, now independent, was re-named the Margaret Haes Riding Centre.
The charity is an independent organisation that relies on donations for the upkeep of the stables. It has embarked on a comprehensive refurbishment project to improve the facilities.
The charity continues to provide riding opportunities for the disabled and reaches as far afield as Rochdale, Wigan and Bolton. The charity has helped hundreds of physically and mentally disabled children and adults enjoy the experience of riding over the West Pennine Moors.
If you have a special need, or are a parent or carer of someone you think may benefit from our services or looking for introductory riding lessons, please contact us for a chat or to make an appointment to come along and look around our facilities.
We always need volunteer helpers, so if you can spare an hour or two to help the disabled riders, we would be delighted to hear from you.
