Groomin' Lovely

Groomin' Lovely Mobile dog grooming with City and Guilds qualified groomer. Friendly, caring, one to one service at Nails clipped and ears cleaned.

Bathing - your dog will be bathed in the very latest hydrobath, which uses a high pressure shower to deliver warm massaging water deep into his coat, thoroughly wetting every last hair and forcing out any dirt and debris that may be trapped close to the skin. Once he is nice and soggy, he will be shampooed in a high quality shampoo suitable for his coat and skin and then scrupulously rinsed for a

squeaky clean finish. Drying - no cage dryers are used in my grooming van, all of my furry clients are hand dried with either a high velocity, warm air dryer or a hand dryer. The high velocity dryer will help with the removal of any dead coat, and is used in conjunction with a hand dryer to achieve the best final result for any styling needed. For nervous or elderly dogs, who would rather have a quieter dryer, I can completely replace the high velocity dryer with the hand dryer. This will take a little longer, but the result will be a less anxious, but just as beautiful dog. Groomin' Lovely pricing...
Brush, bath and dry only - includes thorough brush out of dead coat, wash with quality shampoo (and conditioner if appropriate), ear cleaning and nail clipping. Medium dogs (Springer Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel etc) from £35

Full groom - includes brush out of dead coat and any minor tangles, wash with quality shampoo (and conditioner if appropriate) drying and clipping or sc******ng (or both!). Small dogs (Shih Tzu, Yorkie) from £38
Medium dogs (Springer Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel etc) from £40
Large dogs (Labradoodle, Standard Poodle etc) from £55

Care of your dog
Be assured that I will take every care of your dog whilst he is under my charge. I only use equipment that has been well maintained and thoroughly cleaned between appointments. My grooming van has been professionally converted and houses the latest bathing and grooming facilities. All the products that I use are of the highest quality and are purchased from specialist grooming suppliers. Health and character check
Before grooming begins I will carry out a calming health and character check during which time I will check coat condition and for any lumps, bumps or skin issues. Should I find anything untoward, I will pass on the information to you so that you may seek further advice if you deem it necessary. This also enables me to learn about any dislikes your dog may have so that I can avoid upsetting him - I would ask that you please make me aware if your dog has previously shown displeasure with the grooming process! Staff
You can feel at ease that your dog will be groomed by myself, the owner and operator of Groomin’ Lovely. I am a lifelong animal lover who feels privileged to be working in a profession that enables me to care for the welfare of man’s best friend. My aim is to take as good care of your dog as you do yourself and I will endeavour to make the grooming process as stress free, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Matted coats
In some cases it may be necessary to clip a matted coat close to the skin in order to relieve pain and discomfort caused by tightly knotted mats. In these situations, some skin irritation or minor skin nicks may occur due to the clipper’s close proximity to the skin. You, as the owner, agree that Groomin’ Lovely will not be held responsible for any after grooming effects that may show themselves once grooming is complete. The de-matting process will be discussed with you prior to the groom to ensure you are fully aware of the difficulties and possible discomfort that matted coats can cause. Due to the extra time involved, de-matting may also incur additional charges. Your dog’s welfare is always my highest priority and so, if it would be kinder, I may recommend that the groom be spread over two appointments to reduce the stress caused. Each appointment will be charged according to Groomin’ Lovely’s usual rates and will be agreed with you at our initial consultation. Insurance
Groomin’ Lovely is covered by full Public Liability insurance. Please ask for details if necessary. Cancellations
If, for any reason, you are unable to keep our appointment, I would ask that you kindly give at least 24 hours’ notice by phone call or text. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged a fee to cover my loss of time and travelling costs. Owners will be requested to kindly sign the Grooming Record card outlining terms and conditions on first appointment. Please also inform me if you suspect your dog may have been in contact with fleas. If parasites show themselves during the grooming process, an extra charge will apply to cover costs of bug bombing/fumigating the van and also the cancellation of susequent appointments.

🐾 We all know now that hydrotherapy makes use of water to effectively rehabilitate our pups, but do you know all the properties of water that we make use of in hydrotherapy? 🐾

💦Buoyancy💦
Buoyancy assists in reducing the amount of weight on your dog’s limbs and joints. This is not only a relief for dogs experiencing pain and discomfort, but can also help to encourage more efficient movement patterns in the tank aiding in gait re-education that will help them walk better on land as well.

💦Hydrostatic Pressure💦
The slight pressure exerted by the water particles in the tank is thought to assist in reducing inflammation, improving blood flow and promoting healing.

💦Resistance💦
It is harder for dogs to move their limbs through water than through the air, just as it would be harder for us to wade through chest deep water. This is key in strength and muscle building which is a necessary part of recovery for every case that comes through our doors.

💦Temperature💦
Our water is always between 29 and 30 degrees centigrade, which is thought to be the most therapeutic temperature. Warm enough to encourage blood flow and reduce inflammation, but not too warm as to risk heat stroke if the dogs are asked to exercise inside it.

In the treadmill we can also change the height of the water, which can encourage different and more desirable movement patterns, or change how difficult the session is, depending on where we are in our treatment plan and what our goals are.

If you think that water can have a positive effect on your pup, get in touch today!

🐾Surgery vs conservative management🐾

It’s difficult to know what’s best. If your dog has been diagnosed with cruciate ligament disease, hip dysplasia, luxating patella, IVDD or so many more, you may have been given options of surgery or conservative management to help them.

Surgery is self explanatory. It refers to what is usually an invasive operation to correct the issue, whatever that issue may be. Recovery can be difficult, intense and will likely need some form of physio/hydrotherapy for the best results but it may lead to more freedom for your pups in the long run and potentially delay the onset of osteoarthritis.

Conservative management refers to the use of complimentary therapies like physio and hydrotherapy to build muscle/strength and range of motion in the afflicted joints, thereby aiding in some healing, reducing pain and building comfort. It will be a longer process, and will likely mean some kind of maintenance therapy long-term to reduce the risk of flare-ups (dependent on the issue) but it means a less severe recovery period which may be ideal for older or more docile dogs.

There are many things to consider when deciding the best path to choose, like cost, age and health of your dog, and how much time you will be able to put into the rehab process. It’s always best to have a chat with your vet when deciding this, but remember there are always options and if surgery doesn’t seem like the best one for you and your dog, have a chat about conservative management 🐾❤️

🐾Did you know….🐾

Osteoarthritis is associated with the degeneration of joint cartilage, however it’s not just time and old age that can affect this. Dogs who have experienced some kind of injury or trauma to the joint will also be more likely to see the affects of osteoarthritis far sooner. This includes dogs the have luxating patellas, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, or even dogs that are carrying a bit too much weight. This is why it’s so important to manage our dog’s orthopaedic conditions, so that they can maintain their comfort well into their older years 🥰🐾

Did you know 80% of dogs over the age of 8 suffer with osteoarthritis, and up to 35% of dogs of all ages? 🐾

Osteoarthritis is a condition most of us simply accept as a part of our dogs aging process, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept it. There are so many ways we can manage the affects of arthritis on our pets, from complimentary therapies like hydrotherapy, to pain medications and supplements, to making changes in the home like laying rugs over slippy floors.

I have seen so many dogs whose owners have thought (through no fault of their own) that there was nothing to be done about their progressing arthritis, they’ll simply not have the pep in their step that they used to have. But with a well managed treatment plan, I have seen these dogs begin wanting to climb onto the sofa again, be happier going on longer walks, and just generally look more comfortable with a much better quality of life.

Did you know hydrotherapy can be beneficial for weight loss too? 🐾

Weight management is a key part of keeping our dogs happy and healthy but with just a few extra treats or a few less walks it becomes all too easy for our dogs to tip the scales on the heavier side. This cannot only be detrimental to their cardiovascular health, but also to their joint health and mobility, leaving them more susceptible to injuries as well as putting them at a higher risk of osteoarthritis. And once we have these issues, that extra weight can then lead to more pain and inflammation, making it more difficult to recover.

Did you know that fat tissue actually produces inflammatory molecules called adipokines? So it isn’t just the excess weight that can increase a dog’s risk of developing arthritis.

At Tazza’s Canine Hydrotherapy, we offer hydrotherapy sessions for dogs with orthopaedic and neurological conditions, as well as fitness sessions which are ideal for dogs with no underlying conditions that might want to lose a little weight. We have scales on sight so we can monitor your dog’s progress and offer advice on the changes you can make at home that can help in your dog’s weight loss.

Below is a picture for you to get an idea of the ideal body condition for our dogs. What is ideal can vary slightly between breeds but generally speaking you should be able to feel your dogs ribs, and see a nice tuck in their waist and abdomen.

Gorgeous Harry strutting his stuff in the aquatic treadmill! Harry was referred for right hind limb lameness, but he also struggles with with some lower back pain. Hydrotherapy has been a key tool in rebuilding the muscle he lost on his right hind as well as maintaining comfort in his spine. Well done Harry! 🎉🐾

Our Story

Groomin' Lovely services... At Groomin' Lovely, I want to make your pet as comfortable as possible with the grooming process, so, before any bathing or clipping begins I will carry out a reassuring health and character check. This not only shows up any skin or coat issues, but also gives me a chance to get to know your dog and vice versa. I want him to feel at ease with myself and the grooming environment and enjoy his pampering! Bathing - your dog will be bathed in the very latest hydrobath, which uses a high pressure shower to deliver warm massaging water deep into his coat, thoroughly wetting every last hair and forcing out any dirt and debris that may be trapped close to the skin. Once he is nice and soggy, he will be shampooed in a high quality shampoo suitable for his coat and skin and then scrupulously rinsed for a squeaky clean finish.
