Spring is in the air today and this means lots of flowers are in bloom 🌷

Lilies are extremely toxic to our feline friends and even the smallest amount of any part of the plant can be fatal. 🐱

If you believe your cat has eaten any part of a lily plant or has pollen on their fur then please call your vet immediately. 📲️🚨

Use a buster collar to prevent your cat licking itself, and if there is any visible pollen wash off as much as you can safely without getting any near your cats eyes, nose or mouth. 🚿

Client update:
The clippers have been confiscated.

This lovely boy decided the groom had gone far enough and placed the clippers firmly under feline supervision… paw on the evidence and everything 😄

Cats are currently shedding their winter coats, and with all the wet weather we've been having, damp fur mixed with loose coat can quickly turn into matting — especially for long-haired cats.
My diary is getting quite busy and I'm currently booking into April, with just a few appointments left in March.

Antifreeze spills and leaky engines are a lethal threat to our pets. Ethylene glycol, the main ingredient in antifreeze, is extremely toxic. Unfortunately, it is naturally sweet, which is why pets are tempted to drink it. As the weather continues to drop colder, please be extremely cautious of spills and leaks ❄️

Ethylene glycol is also found in car screen wash, brake fluid, radiator fluid and some garden water features. Even small amounts, if swallowed, is deadly as it causes permanent damage to the kidneys.

Symptoms of antifreeze poisoning in dogs and cats:
- Wobbliness and weakness
- Vomiting
- Low energy (lethargy)
- Drinking and weeing more to begin, and then less than normal
- Difficulty breathing or fast breathing
- Seizures (fits)
- Collapse

Sadly, antifreeze poisoning is usually fatal unless it’s treated extremely quickly. Call your vet immediately if you think your pet has come into contact with antifreeze - don't wait for symptoms to appear!⚠️

Yesterday I had a lion in the salon 🦁. He popped in for his first ever groom (he’d always been sedated and shaved at the vet’s until now). He had a few matts around his legs and underbelly and we worked together to remove those. Then he had his first bath and went home clean and fresh. Such a handsome boy! 😻🦁😻

I pick Shilo up from a local care home and she always brings out the sass. When she’s at the salon she’s an angel and falls asleep for most of the groom! 😇🥰😻
