Frequently asked questions regarding dog injuries and osteopathy.
Q: Should I walk my dog if he is limping?
A: No! Would you go for a walk if you had a sprained ankle or knee? You must rest it to aid recovery.
Q: Can osteopathy help arthritic dogs?
A: Yes. It can make a huge difference, as it helps to keep them mobile and therefore improving their quality of life as they go through the ageing process.
Q: Can osteopathy help with a dog’s lower back injuries?
A: Yes. As with humans, osteopathy, can really help reduce pain and improve movement. Unfortunately some dogs are more prone to back pain than others.
Q: Can osteopathy help with Cruciate Ligament injury?
A: Yes. You can help, post therapy, buy performing lymphatic drainage, joint articulation and light therapy.
Q: How can I avoid Cruciate Ligament injury?
A: When you throw a ball make sure your dog is facing the same direction as the ball is being thrown. A dog that is facing they will hop and twist as they turn towards the ball causing a cruciate injury.
Q: Is it ok to give my dog Metacam? (a pain relief medicine)
A: Yes. Although remember that your dog will not feel the pain as much and could make their injury worse by too much movement.
