Mark had a wonderful time last Sunday at the K-9 Angels dog show in Wisborough Green.
So many dogs to see, such a lovely day and very well organised. They raised lots of important funds to help the dogs.

Meet Macy

Hello… I’m Macy. I was born on 20 May 2020, right in the middle of lockdown, and because the world was so quiet back then, I didn’t get to learn much about people, places, or other animals. So now, as a grown‑up girl, I can find a lot of things quite scary.

I get worried about new people, dogs, cats, and anything that feels unpredictable. I’m also a bit unsure about human hands, especially when I don’t know someone yet. Hands can move fast, and that makes me nervous. I need calm, gentle people who let me choose when I’m ready. I don’t bark or lunge at people, I just keep my distance until I am sure and need time to do this.

The good news is… with the humans I trust, I’m soft, loving, and very loyal. I just need time to feel safe.

I am slowly and carefully having my little world expanded. We go at my pace, and I’m learning that new things don’t have to be scary. I’m trying really hard.

What I’m Looking For

Someone who really understands German Shepherds
A quiet, child‑free home
A home where I can be the only dog
A patient, empathetic human who won’t rush me
A human who will take time with me and not keep touching me until I am ready

If you want to meet me, you’ll need to visit me lots of times so I can get to know you properly. I don’t fall in love quickly… but once I do, I’m yours.

If you’re experienced, calm, and kind… I just might be your girl.

Location: Sleaford, Lincs

Another great social-skills walk, with Danielle.

These are group sessions that involve a little training but mostly to get them used to walking with other dogs and separately. We do include some socialising but tend to work more on passing in a relaxed manner, being calm, building confidence and listening to basic cues in the presence of other dogs and people. (£15 per group walk, £10 each if you book the whole month)

Please get in touch to secure your place.

🐾 Tick Awareness 🐾

With the recent warm and humid weather, ticks are particularly active right now. As dog professionals, we're spending a lot of time outdoors and conditions are ideal for ticks in long grass, woodland, heathland, and even some local parks.

A quick tick check after every walk can help protect both your dog and your family.

🔍 Pay particular attention to:
• Around and inside the ears
• Around the eyes and muzzle
• Under collars and harnesses
• Between the toes
• Armpits and groin area
• Neck, chest, and under the tail

If you find a tick crawling on your dog, place it in a sealable plastic bag before disposing of it. Please don't flush ticks down the toilet, as this does not reliably kill them.

If you find a tick attached to your dog, use a purpose-made tick removal tool and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

❌ Do not squeeze the tick.
❌ Do not pull it straight out with your fingers.
❌ Do not cover it with petroleum jelly (Vaseline), alcohol, oils, or any other substance.

Once removed, disinfect the area and keep an eye on it over the following days and weeks.

Contact your vet if you notice:
• Excessive redness or swelling around the bite site
• A bullseye-shaped rash
• Sudden lethargy
• Lameness or stiffness
• Unexplained changes in behaviour or appetite

In most cases, once a tick is removed properly, dogs are absolutely fine. If you're unsure about removing a tick yourself, most veterinary practices and many professional groomers will be happy to help.

📸 Please see the images below for examples of a sheep/deer tick (Ixodes ricinus)—one of the most common tick species found in the UK—as well as an example of an attached tick. If you're not sure what you're looking for during your post-walk checks, these images should help.

A 30-second tick check after every walk is one of the simplest ways to help keep your dog safe and healthy. 🐕

Wow, what a great night…

I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone who helped put the night together, gave their time for free, and of course everyone who came along too…

Huge thanks to Zena Brown, she was absolutely fantastic with organising a wonderful prize, helping with the BBQ, and advertising the event everywhere, it would not have been as good without her help.

Magic Marty was outstanding, everybody was raving about him - I’ve had lots of messages already - saying how jaw-droppingly good he was. He had everyone astounded with the close-up magic.

West Chiltington butchers, Louie and Paul, served up wonderful food that everyone enjoyed with gusto, a very long queue was formed very early on…

Throbbin Hood, thank you to my wonderful band mates, Martin, Rob, Pete and Adam, for blasting out the tunes even though it was really hot in the hall… at least we lost a little weight !
We had a wonderful guest sax player too, Richard is a very talented man and blended-in seamlessly.

Many thanks too to Tracy, who gave up her time to take a lot of pictures and getting people together.

Also, thanks to Sam and Ian for manning the doors and generally helping-out everywhere.

We managed to raise over £1000 for the rescues, which will be split between the two rescues and will be put to great use.

German Shepherd Welfare Fund (https://www.gsdwelfarefund.co.uk/) and Spaniel Assist (https://www.spanielassist.com/) .

It was such a great night because of all the people mentioned above, and we will certainly be doing that again!!!
