Top tips from Jessica

How to....
Ride great transitions every time!

Transitions are fantastic for improving your horses balance, strength, suppleness, control, adjustability and so much more!

✅ DO keep your eye line up and your upper body tall - its going to help keep your horse balanced on their hindleg

✅ DO use a little leg in your downward transitions - it will stop your horse skidding to a stop and will give you a really nice smooth transition instead

✅ DO aim to ride around 100 transitions in each session - it will mean you really get the benefit of the transitions and will help keep your sessions interesting and your horse focussed on you. Don't forget to repeat every bad transition you do and reward every good transition you do.

❌ DONT only use your reins - it will lead to tension, tightness and so many more issues

❌ DONT let your upper body tip forward - it will encourage your horse to go onto the forehand, become unbalanced and lead to a bad transition.

❌ DONT let a bad transition slide - keep your expectations of the type of transition you want clear. Repeat every bad one, reward every good one. If youre consistent with this you will be riding great transitions without even thinking about it in no time!

What a lovely camp we had for our first June camp ! 🥰

We had some fantastic private lessons on the Friday with lots of focus on suppleness and how our position influences how our horse moves.

On Saturday we were up bright and early (after 3 of our riders enjoyed a lovely full English breakfast at The Hawkley Inn) for private lessons followed by test riding in the afternoon with a big focus on riding accurate circles for great marks in a test. We also managed to fit in a quick trip to the Old Dairy Tea room and second hand tack shop.

That evening we enjoyed a wonderful pub dinner all together. Always a great way to relax and unwind after a busy day.

Then Sunday camp around with pole sessions in the morning and more private lessons for those who’d arranged extra private sessions.

The sun shone and we had a fantastic weekend 😀

Not long now till our fully booked second June camp.

Both our July camps and our September camp is fully booked but we do still have space on our 21-23 August camp - message us to get yourself booked in!

How are our April and May campers getting on?

After a fantastic first 2 camps of the year our campers have been out and about having great success!

Amy came 3rd and qualified for the Trailblazers Championships in her first ever Elementary

Jo went out and gained 2 new PBs at Elementary (a whopping 4% higher than her previous highest score!)

Kate also won her first test back after camp in the Prelim

A huge well done for all your successes since camp! 👏

What can you expect from our camps?

Thinking of joining onto one of our camps but don’t know what to expect? Our camps are always a super supportive atmosphere where you will make new friends and learn tonnes along the way.

🐎 2 private lessons, test riding session and pole work session

🐎 A supportive small group of riders making it a completely bespoke, confidence boosting and enjoyable environment.

🐎 Stunning American barn stabling with windows, automatic water drinkers and hay feeders

🐎 Option to include mucking out and horse care so you can sit back and enjoy a lie in and focus on learning and enjoying the whole experience.
