After 6 months of being closed and two motorbike trips around Morocco and Spain, Paul has made the decision to reopen the cattery on the 1st of November this year after his other 3 upcoming motorbike holidays.
I will be staying in full time employment to give us some stability but still looking after the bookings and Paul will be running the cattery, initially on his own but with a view to adding either one additional full time or two part time members of staff to help him, but this will only happen when he finds the right person or people as they have to be the right fit for our furry guests.
It is 6 years this weekend since we opened our dream and it has not been an easy ride to say the least. Covid hit us 6 months after opening which took its toll and made the last few years very hard. Playing catch up and doing a bit too much with no additional help brought things to a head hence the closure early this year to give us some very much needed time out and a pause for reflection.
With the cattery being so busy, we tried to keep everyone happy by not letting people down and refusing bookings and it eventually got too much. Paul, around his holidays, has managed to get all the jobs done around the property and in the cattery that he has not had a chance to do over the last few years due to working 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. He is feeling refreshed, excited to reopen the cattery and hire some help to prevent future burnout.
The cattery has been fully painted, the kitchen finished and Paul has stripped out the reception to create a full on play room for our guests. All of the individual rooms are exactly as they where and we will not be making any changes or cutting corners in that regard.
We are coming back bigger and better after a rest. Adding some carefully chosen additional members to the team will enable us to take some time out and have a better work life balance which was severely lacking previously.
We will be taking booking as of now for the 1st of November and as of the 1st November will be back open permanently. While Paul is initially running the cattery single handed we may run at a slightly lower capacity than normal until we find the right person to help.
There will be a price increase but if any of our previous customers have not yet found an alternative cattery and wish to come back to us, we will do our best to honour the old prices where we can. So existing customers, please don't be put of by the new prices - if it was not for you we would never have kept going as long as we did.
The website will be up and running again soon. We will be taking bookings immediately, but our doors will not reopen until the1st of November. We will also contact all of our previous customers by email as we know not everybody follows Facebook and many customers asked us to do so if we ever reopened.
