Well I certainly have had the most craziest 2 weeks 🤯

9 days of working across 4 clinics seeing 131 dogs in total 🤣 This includes my normal job and then my own clients - trying to fit everyone in before the champs! A day of study somewhere in between that. And then 5 days at the UKFL champs where all of our teams got a podium (3 x 1sts 🥇 and 1 x 3rd place🥉) but more importantly dogs were safe, clean, consistent and some even hit new personal bests 🫣

I've now got a few days off for my birthday to try and recover and reset back to normal life whilst spending quality time with family and the dogs 🖤

I just wanted to say thank you all for your support - I am so grateful to be able to call this my job and to stand ringside and watch the dogs successes knowing all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes - WELL DONE 🎉

We are now proud stockists of Vetz Petz Antinol for Dog ❤️

I am always so cautious about recommending supplements for your dogs. So after a lot of research, testing on my own dogs, talks with our local sports medicine veterinary specialists and a fantastic lunch and learn with Antinol themselves - I am more than comfortable recommending this product.

It will be available to purchase from myself and in the Rochdale branch from July. Or if you're already using Antinol online, use our pro partner code to recieve 5% off and as a thank you I will gift you 10 x hairy rabbit ears (or other treats of your choice) 🙂

As well as Osteopathy I also have a qualification from Fenzi Dog Sports Academy - Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer

This means I can offer strength, fitness and sports performance conditioning plans to clients including:
✔️Agility, flyball and other sporting dogs
✔️Injury Prevention
✔️Post Op Strengthening
✔️General Strength & Conditioning
✔️Long Term Condition Management

I am a huge advocate in keeping our sports dogs in tip top condition and integrating that into my treatment plans as well as making sure the body is working in balance! If you already do exercises with your dogs (AMAZING) but if there's anything your dog may be struggling with (e.g pivot one way but not the other), it could be due to an imbalance! Feel free to drop me a message with videos and I can have a look for you 🙂

So how can Osteopathy help improve my dogs posture?
Things to look out for that aren't 'normal' in your dog:
- Dipping or roaching of the back
- Very high or very low head carriage
- Hind legs tucked under (one leg or both)
- Front legs in front of chest (one leg or both)
- Tail position maybe favours one side, or is tucked

This is Breda, she had an injury from a puppy which she recovered from, now her mum has been noticing on/off lameness after doing more than usual exercise. Dogs typically change their posture during recovery to allow them to be able to do normal things which in Breda's case was not using her left hind leg properly. Now she's middle aged, this is typically when dogs struggle to be able to compensate and secondary issues become apparent.

After 3 sessions Breda is maintaining better posture that can be seen as:
✔️ More neutral head position (due to relaxed neck muscles)
✔️ Less roaching/curving of spine (relaxed hip flexors and engaged core)
✔️ Fascial changes (can be shown from smoother coat patterns)
✔️ Better loading on left hind leg (still work to do but she is putting more weight on it which shows she is more comfortable)
✔️ Higher tail (more freedom of movement and less rotated/tucked in the pelvis)

If you are noticing any changes in posture this could be a sign of a previous injury that may not have healed, a weak core, inefficient movement or hiding pain!

The first of my 'educational' posts, I'll try not to go into usual Daisy too much detail and bore you by the end..

Common Sporting Injuries - The Biceps Brachii Muscle!

Issues:
• Tendinitis/Tenosynovitis – Inflammation of the biceps tendon or its sheath, often due to overuse or repetitive motion.
• Partial or complete tendon rupture – Can occur from trauma or chronic degeneration.
• Avulsion – The tendon pulls away from its attachment point on the bone.
• Fibrosis or mineralization – Chronic injury can lead to tissue thickening or calcium deposits.

Symptoms:
• Intermittent or persistent forelimb lameness
• Pain on palpation of the biceps tendon (located in the shoulder groove)
• Pain or resistance during shoulder flexion and elbow extension
• Muscle atrophy if the injury is chronic
• Reduced range of motion
• Agility/Flyball - wider turns, dropping a stride/launching, 'struggling to collect', not pushing off the box, times slightly off, spitting balls at the last jump (these things aren't always a training issue)

You CAN return your dogs to the sport with the right rehab (I have done it with my own dog 💪🏼)! Early detection is key, dogs aren't necessarily lame with this condition so you've got to trust your therapist is regularly assessing this muscle in your sports dog!

If you're dog has any of those symptoms don't ignore it, it won't go away and it won't fix with rest! Please feel free to get in touch for a check 😊

Hope you’ve all had a lovely bank holiday!🐣🐰
I spent mine playing flyball with friends in Anglesey — the perfect reminder of why I love working with sports dogs. We raced 4 teams over the weekend and our youngsters had some time to practice! Our fastest team is currently 5th seeded on the current league list 😁

I’ve had lots of questions about my new business venture and how it can help your dog — so here’s a quick overview!

It’s not just for injury rehab - many “maintenance” dogs have already seen improvements in striding, box technique, stamina, and overall times. Every sport creates imbalances — treatment helps improve performance, prevent injury, and support long-term health.

Services I offer:
• Balance Checks – joint mobility, muscle testing, gait & posture analysis, neurological health and vitality
• Initial Treatments – includes balance check + techniques as appropriate (massage, stretching, BLT, fascial & joint techniques)
• Strength & Conditioning – custom programmes based on your dog’s needs (in-person or online)
• Hydrotherapy – focused, hands-on sessions including massage and use of electrotherapies (available in Rochdale from May)

You’ll receive a full summary, recorded treatments if you’d like, and vet reports where needed.

Where can you find me?
• Fully mobile and flexible with appointments
• Available at flyball shows I've entered
• Hydrotherapy services available in Rochdale from May
• Team days/workshops at your venue (discounts for multiple dogs)

Drop me a message to book or chat about how I can help your dog make it happen!
