On my walks I come across many strange things but one thing that fascinates me is fungi. So here are a few photos. I will start off with cheese. 😂

Well I love German Shepherds, I love Huskies and Malamutes. Owning a few my self. Crosses or pure all are the best. Seems like I am the go to walker for these breeds. Soooo if you meet resistance to someone walking this breed or popping in just ask me. Below is a short video of mine. Not for the faint hearted. Very few times available for week day walks but overnight and weekends available.

Just to make you aware...

There has been news yesterday from a Vet in Hampshire that they had been presented with a dog, with a non-healing wound and who had started to vomit. Bloods revealed kidney failure and so sadly, a decision had to be made for euthanisa.

A post-mortem confirmed, as suspected, it had been a case of Alabama Rot.

The dog had been walked in the Hawley Woods / Minley Manor area.

We know it will be difficult not to worry, but please don’t panic!

Again, we would recommend you wash your dog’s down well after any walks in woodlands after heavy rainfall or when they’ve been venturing through really muddy sections.

Stay vigilant with any new skin sores / patches of redness that you may spot, if they become unusually tired, lose their appetite or begin to vomit and just have them looked at by one of our Vets, as soon as possible.

And for further information about this condition, please see the official information shared by Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists

Well here we are nearly approaching a First Year of starting my special First Steps Pet Service business. Hows my year gone? Well Howler with his happy Lovable smile says it all!! Why did it take me so long to jump from an office to Forests and beach walks, meeting lots of gorgeous puppies and dogs and their lovely owners. Every day is an adventure, a comedy show, a learning curve for some of the more reactive dogs I walk. Nothing is more special than a reactive dog slowly becoming more comfortable with their environment, slowly starting to become the dog who enjoys the walk and not focusing on the ghosts in the hedge. Love you all and looking forward to lots more fun and educational walkies.

Is Peter Rabbit for me?

Fact #2 Having you own Peter Rabbit can mean very expensive vet bills…

So you’ve seen the Peter Rabbit movie and have decided you just have to have your very own Peter Rabbit. Rabbits are cheap pets right? You are *joking*! On average, a pet rabbit will cost the owners over £5,000 during their lifetime. Rabbits will need to be neutered and have regular trips to the vets for vaccination against Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease. If you are planning on getting rabbits as pets, you are most definitely recommended to get pet health insurance. This can cost upwards of £60 per year, per rabbit.

Even so, rabbits often have dental problems, which are rarely covered by insurance. If your rabbits are affected (and they are very likely to be, unless you feed them a grass/hay-based diet!) then the cost of essential regular dental treatment can quickly add up to hundreds of pounds each year.

Still want rabbits…?

If you know of anyone who is thinking of buying pet rabbits, please share.
