✨When to avoid booking a grooming session ✨

I think many of us disregard tiny changes in our Pets routine because they’re ‘just a dog’ .

For us a trip to the salon is probably a real treat .. to our dogs it’s probably seen more as a punishment . It’s loud , they’re left without a guardian , it smells of many different dogs and they’re sat on a table for two hours being tugged at .

I wouldn’t say having a groom is at the top of their list . However. We can become aware of the little things to help make sessions less stressful for them .

My go to !!

My most asked question from clients ‘what shampoo did you use ?’

It’s normally a combination of the two . I fell in love with last year on the hunt for my top products to provide the best skin /coat and nose care .

I cannot rave about this brand more . I love every single product I have used .

I also notice a profound difference in the clients that use the detangle conditioner at home too (love when we’re on the same page)

A little really goes a long way . I usually let each product sit for 3-5 minutes in the coat before washing out (as long as the dog is comfortable in the bath )

Today marks an incredibly hot day ! It’s so important we’re being mindful of our pets in this heat .

Dogs do die from heatstroke .They’re a lot more sensitive to us in the change in temperature (especially if you’re in the U.K. ) so we must help increase their comfort on days like today .

Things to be mindful of :

What time you’re walking the dogs , opt for early morning or late evening .

The temperature of the floor , if it’s too hot for you to stand on bare foot , it’s definitely too hot for them

Supplying plenty of shade or cool space so they don’t overheat .

Cool mats or cool jackets are a fantastic tool to have on days like today.

Keep a fresh supply of water 💦

(Just make sure this isn’t ice water , the shock in temperature change can make them sick)

Be mindful of long car journeys.

Even opt out of the walk and supply some enrichment at home to stimulate their minds .

Did you know it isn’t always just the grooming environment that can make your dogs nervous to arrive .

There are so many external factors we have to consider if the dog is feeling a little worried while being groomed .

A lot of studies have researched into the change of energy in animals and humans depending on weather , moon cycles , eating habits , sleep schedule ect..

The best way figure out your dogs fears is to keep a diary . Track their walk times , drinking habits , triggers , sleep pattern . Bit by bit you will start to notice repeated behaviours after certain events ⭐️
