Beano's Ballpark: Useful Information

All information is available on our website: www.beanosballpark.co.uk, together with maps & pictures. What it’s all about

Have trouble finding a safe place to train, walk or play with your dog? Do you ever wish that you had your own field for off-lead, hassle-free exercise? Well, Beano’s Ballpark might be just what you’re looking for. Not only are there tw

o beautifully mowed, fenced fields to choose from, but also, a separate fenced training area

The Fields: The Ballpark, (2.5 acres) & The Bolthole, (1.5 acres) are at opposite ends of our 21 acre farm, with separate access & can be hired by individuals with their dogs, for one hour sessions. During that time, you could practice
skills, work on training, or just throw a ball around, enjoy the view & have a good time, without someone else’s dog ruining your fun! Both fields are fully fenced & gated with approximately 4' lamb fencing & higher Cornish hedges behind. There are stunning moorland views from each field & benches & tables for your use, so that you can bring a picnic. You may drive straight into both the fields, (weather permitting!) We have toilets on site for your use. Cost:

Initial & ‘Pay As You Go’ sessions: £10 per hour

Beano's 'Mates Rates': £9 hour.
4 sessions paid in advance for £36
These sessions must be booked & used within one calendar month of purchase date

All prices include exclusive use of the field, for up to 3 dogs. Additional dogs £1 extra, per dog, to a maximum of 6 dogs at any time, (unless by prior arrangement). Shared bookings, (ie: extra car or dogs from a different household): £3 extra
Payments can be made in cash, or in advance, by bank transfer

How do I book? The fields are available for hire, most days, from 8am to dusk. To book a field, please contact us by telephone: (01326 340627 or 07813 984662), email, or via Facebook, to arrange. Wherever possible, we advise that you book at least 24 hours in advance for a session. Alternatively, you can phone between 8.30 & 9.30 am, to see if there are any slots available for that day. For those who do not wish to come in bad weather, we would prefer you to ring on the day, rather than to book in advance & then fail to arrive. The booking is by the hour, with 50 minutes use of the field & 5 minutes each end for arrival & departure. Please ensure that you do not arrive early, or leave late, in order not to compromise other field users. Our farm is a good half-mile from the road, with our fields surrounding the house. No other dogs will be allowed in the field during your hire, but please be aware that a footpath runs within sight of the field boundaries, so please ensure that your dogs remain either in the fenced field, or on lead in other areas, at all times. We allow enough time between bookings, that you will not encounter other field users, or their dogs, but please ensure that you don’t arrive early or leave late, to avoid this happening. Whilst the field is completely fenced, we cannot ensure complete security for every dog. We are happy for you to come & visit in advance to have a look at the facility & assess its suitability for your needs. We do not use shared water or toys, for hygiene reasons, so please bring your own with you. If you’ve forgotten anything though, please do feel free to ask! We request that field users pick up dog waste, cigarette butts, bits of broken or chewed toys, litter etc & take it with you off-site. Most people are very good about this & our fields are very clean, with no hazards. We check the fields several times a day with our two terriers, who make excellent dog poo monitors, but if you come across a poo that someone might have missed, you’ll get extra points if you bag that too! First Visit? For initial sessions, please download the Beano's Ballpark Registration Form attached here, complete it & bring it with you. We will meet you on arrival & show you around. Please bring water, treats, favourite toys &, of course, poo bags! When you arrive, please leave your dogs in your vehicle while you book in. Terms & Conditions

All bookings are subject to the terms & conditions on the Registration Form. Having been informed of these conditions, it is assumed that you, (& all members of your party), accept them if you make a booking. Directions

Beano’s Ballpark is situated down a quiet farm track, (with passing places!), in the hamlet of Halwin: between Porkellis & Carnkie. Sat Nav: We would strongly advise against using Sat Nav, as you might to end up in some very peculiar places! Instead, any of the following are more likely to get you here. Google Maps: Just type in Beano’s Ballpark, TR13 0PD for map & directions. Prefer it the old-fashioned way? For written instructions & maps, please see our printed directions below or on www.beanosballpark.co.uk

On the right track? Find Halwin School. Immediately opposite the school is a track through fields, with double gates. This is our neighbours’ private track, so please don’t go down it! Beside the school is the School House & immediately opposite this, is a farm track with a sign saying Higher Dacum Farm

Go down that track, past the first farm, (which is not us) & keep going until you see a postbox with our logo on it. If you go down the drive a little way & park in the first field you find on the right, we will come & find you & show you around

Please feel free to give us a ring if there's anything else you'd like to know. Looking forward to seeing you,

Dee & Cath

It’s been an exciting few days, with Cath’s brother staying. We had to check his luggage before he left, as Tilly had taken quite a shine to him!
My cousin is also planning on coming down to Cornwall and planning on bringing her dog.
Tilly is unfortunately not prepared to have house guests! 😕
So they’re looking for accommodation in the Camborne/Redruth area, for two adults and a well behaved friendly dog. (Unlike Tilly! 😆)
We’re looking for some personal recommendations, nice places to stay please, lovely Beano’s people. Places, that you know are good or maybe you have accommodation you rent out?
They’re coming in September.

Tuesday to Friday
Either 1st to 4th, 8th to 11th or 15th to 18th.
Thank you all, in anticipation. 😄

It’s yesterday’s news. But, thanks to one of our amazing clients we got to see the eclipse, safely and had a spectacular view.
We were given a pair of highly sought after specs right at the last minute.
Cath raced into the village to collect. Thanks Mel, you made our day!
We felt the 1999 ones might not be as safe, and the Junior viewers weren’t very easy to use.
Just the two of us at Dacum this time. 😊
Enjoying the moment!

So, with the eclipse due tomorrow, we look back with fondness on the 1999 event.
We with the help of our neighbour, set up a temporary campsite, turning an old pig stye into a toilet block in a matter of weeks, ready for the influx of visitors!
One hundred and fifty seven people stayed with us, camping on what is now the dog fields that weekend!
We had fire juggling acts, trapeze shows, a lot of fun, and although it was cloudy and we didn’t see the eclipse itself, the darkness was quite surreal!
We’ve found some of the eclipse glasses from the 1999 event and a couple of safe viewers (pin hole boxes) which are ready for tomorrow. What will you be doing?
