Why to get your double coated dog groomed regularly:

Breeds like the Siberian Husky, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Alaskan Malamute, and Pomeranian all have this type of coat.
1. It removes trapped dead undercoat
Double-coated dogs naturally “blow their coat” seasonally. A groomer uses tools (undercoat rakes, high-velocity dryers, special brushes) to remove the loose undercoat that gets trapped beneath the topcoat.

2. It prevents matting and skin problems.
When loose undercoat stays trapped, it can form dense mats close to the skin. These mats:

* Trap moisture
* Cause irritation or hotspots
* Reduce airflow to the skin

3. Helps temperature regulation
The undercoat works like insulation. If too much dead undercoat builds up, the coat can’t regulate temperature properly, which can make the dog hotter in warm weather.

4. Reduces shedding at home
A proper deshed removes a large amount of loose fur at once, meaning *less hair around the house* for weeks afterward.

5. Maintains coat health without shaving
Double coats should usually *not be shaved* (except for medical reasons) because shaving can damage the coat’s regrowth and its natural protection. Deshedding removes loose hair without harming the coat structure.

✅ In a short: Deshedding removes dead undercoat so the coat can breathe, regulate temperature, and stay healthy. 🐾🐶🐩

Benji 🐾❤️ Benji suffers with skin conditions and as an older gentleman this is not comfortable. He comes in every 4/5 weeks where we use his soap free shampoo to help soothe his skin. He loves his soak in the tub! We keep him nice and short to prevent any flare ups with his skin 🐶🐾

Erik, this beautiful boy has been visiting me for 4 years. He was a rescue and was super nervous and had a fear of being touched in certain areas. We have built trust and he happily let's me groom him without any issues and even ends the grooming on kisses ❤️🐾 It's so important to build trust with all my doggies so they are happy and comfortable during their grooming process ❤️🐾🐶
