🕷️✨ Solifuges & Camel Spiders – Nature’s Desert Speed Demons! ✨🕷️

New in at Kernow Aquatics and Exotics at The Pet Market – these fascinating arachnids that spark so much curiosity: Solifuges (often called Camel Spiders).

👉 Did you know?

They’re not true spiders or scorpions, but belong to their very own order: Solifugae.

Despite the myths, they are not venomous – instead, they use powerful jaws to crush and chew prey.

They’re among the fastest arachnids on Earth, sprinting up to 10mph across desert sands!

In the wild, they’re incredible hunters, taking down insects, small lizards, and even rodents.

🌿✨ New Arrival Spotlight: Albino Grass Carp! ✨🌿

Say hello to one of the most eye-catching pond fish you’ll ever see – the Albino Grass Carp! 🐟 Their shimmering white-gold scales and ruby-red eyes make them a true showstopper, and they’re not just beautiful… they’re super useful too!

💡 Fun Facts & Care Tips:
👉 Grass Carp are herbivores – they’ll happily munch away on pond plants and help keep algae under control.
👉 These gentle giants can grow very large (up to 4ft in the right environment!), so they’re best suited for spacious ponds.
👉 Despite their size, they’re peaceful and mix well with koi and other pond fish.
👉 In the wild, they’ve been used as “natural lawnmowers” for aquatic weeds – so they’re both stunning and practical! 🌱

🫧 Captive Care:
✔️ Needs a large, well-oxygenated pond.
✔️ Provide some plant matter or leafy greens as part of their diet.
✔️ Keep them in groups for company – they’re social fish!

🎉🐠 Meet the Clown Loach – the life of the aquarium party! 🐠🎉

These little guys are full of character – from their bold orange-and-black stripes to their funny “clowning around” behaviour. They love to play, explore, and even make cute clicking noises when chatting with each other! 🤩

✨ Did you know?
👉 They’re best kept in groups (the more, the merrier!).
👉 They can grow up to a foot long, so they’ll need plenty of space as they mature.
👉 They’re snail-busting experts 🐌 – handy little helpers for your tank.
👉 With good care, they can live over 10 years!

🐉 Bearded Dragons – The Friendly Mini-Dinosaurs! 🐉
Thinking of adding a Bearded Dragon to your family? These calm, curious reptiles make fantastic pets when given the right care – here’s what you need to know!

🏡 Captive Care

Enclosure: A spacious vivarium (minimum 4ft long for adults) with plenty of climbing branches and basking spots.

Heating & Lighting: Provide a basking area of 38–42°C and a cooler end around 26°C, plus high-quality UVB lighting to keep them healthy.

Substrate: Safe options include reptile carpet, slate tiles, or bioactive setups. Avoid loose sand for young dragons.

🥗 Diet

Greens: Daily salads with dark leafy greens like collard, dandelion, and rocket.

Protein: Insects such as crickets, locusts, or dubia roaches – dusted with calcium and vitamins.

Treats: Occasional fruits (e.g., berries, mango) – a sweet bonus, not a staple.

Top Tip: Juveniles need more insects, adults need more greens.

✨ Fun Facts

Bearded Dragons “wave” to show submission and “bob” their heads to assert dominance.

They flatten their bodies and darken their “beard” when feeling defensive.

Native to Australia, they love basking in the sun – and in captivity, they often enjoy sitting on your shoulder like a little scaly parrot!

🐟✨ New Arrival – Dwarf Hovering Loach ✨🐟
(Micronemacheilus cruciatus – also called Zebra Stone Loach or Crossband Loach)

These little gems are perfect for nano and community aquariums. With their bold black crossbars on a golden body and their quirky habit of “hovering” mid-water, they’re as charming as they are beautiful.

💡 Why we love them:
✔ Peaceful and community-friendly
✔ Only ~4 cm fully grown – ideal for smaller tanks
✔ Fascinating behaviour – often found resting mid-water or gliding along plants
✔ Natural scavengers – help keep the aquarium tidy

🌿 Care tips:

Keep in groups of 5+ for happy, natural behaviour

Provide planted areas and hiding spots

Soft, slightly acidic to neutral water preferred

Omnivorous – will enjoy small sinking pellets, frozen foods, and veggies
